[QUOTE]GOLDEN VALLEY -- There have been several reports of something falling from the sky shortly after 10:00 p.m. Wednesday.
The reports came in from Minnesota, Wisconsin, South Dakota, Illinois, and Iowa.
The Forest Lake Fire Department was sent to investigate at the Castlewood Golf Course which is located at 7050 Scandia Trail North in Forest Lake. However, it appears nothing was found.
Dash camera video out of Iowa shows a bright object flying across the sky, at times becoming brighter.
The National Weather Service says it was the Gamma Virginids meteor shower at the peak of its 17-day run. The same show could be repeated Thursday night.
The reporting meteor showers is from Washington County to Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The earth is bombarded by thousands every year. Nothing to worry about.
:tinfoil:
Meteors have races now?
This is as bad as all of the stupid earthquake posts lately.

no, but they make races

Fix'd.
I saw this thinking it was a ufo. I'm in UK and it was around 3-4 am in the morning and was as small as a star, white and just moving in one line with no flashing so it couldn't be a plane.

Nothing to worry about, but pretty cool to see. Have you seen the videos? It looks gigantic and apparently caused a sonic boom. I'm just a little too far north, but I wish I had seen it.
Here's one picture from CNN:

And yeah, that's a satellite. I see those all the time. The meteor was gigantic, loud, and streaked across the sky looking like a fireball. Plus it was in the midwest of the U.S. at 10pm here.
Man, I can't believe I missed this cuz of fucking work! Especially after ALL the big meteor showers of the last year were snowed/rained out last year! Arrrggghh you've gotta be kidding me!
While thousands of meteors burn up in the atmosphere every day... the odds of a fireball that bright happening in your area are slim to nil!

It went from West Coast to Ohio, not the same meteor
Thousands of meteors are reported every year.
Not threadworthy.

Very few meteors are bright enough to light up the night sky like daylight and are seen across seven different states in enough populated areas that dozens of people call 911 to report it. Plus the whole sonic boom and houses shaking bit. That's a pretty spectacular event.
Damn, I was only off by over a thousand miles.

Tell me about it, I was only off by around 6500 miles.
