Makes these police officers look like they know what they're doing.

"All terrain does not mean boat"
I'd love to see a video from the driver's or passenger's point of view.
oh god i cracked up laughing when the dude said "how is that possible?".
There is something that the Army calls a "risk assessment." If this idea was floated up from someone, the commander would have performed a risk assessment and the mission would have been scrubbed. It looks like this National Guard unit was made of wash outs.
...looks more like the british police with an american camerman
then it turns out I was watching the wrong fucking video ¬_¬
With the other one playing D:
They tried and would have been successful had it not got any deeper. The air intake is that "snorkel" bit behind the cab, as long as that's above the water they will be fine. It looks like it just got a bit too deep
what a bunch of bamfs
not a single fuck was given that day

They're usually one of the first to respond to disaster situations for rescue and aid, that's more than enough to earn my respect.

the guy on top of the truck is fishing

Apparently the "expert" on the situation(the commentator) wasn't smart enough to know what a snorkel is.

Might have been a saftey line for the swimmers.

Are you really that stupid? I have to ask because this is unbelievable.
You gotta go you gotta go.
I've been trying to find more footage to see if these guys made it out alright, but this is all I found

"Why would you take a guy that can't swim?"
The guy shooting this is a dumbass.
I'd like him to say "You guys are stupid" a bit louder so they hear him and kick his ass
I think that's one of the only way the NG guys could have been any more badass.
But uh, what are they actually doing
and how is that actually possible. Trucks aren't supposed to work underwater, last I heard.
But uh, what are they actually doing

Because not even anything close to military technology. Granted the military may have thought of it and started using it on their vehicles first, but anyone that knows the basic workings of an engine could have figured out that you put air intake above water, truck no die. Not exactly rocket science.
The same thing 4x4/offroad vehicles have been using since you were a baby.
This magical thing called a "snorkel"
[editline]31st August 2011[/editline]
The only thing that needs to be above water for a vehicle to run is the air intake. That's it. The crew members will drown, as you can see, far before the truck even has to worry about being hydro-locked.

I've been following/liked the National Guard's Facebook page and they usually have updates on the National Guard preparing for disasters like this one, and of course they helped when that BP oil spill happened.
They're pretty cool people.
They should've been driving RipTide but sadly there's only one of them at the moment.

I like the answer the guy gives at the start to "How is that possible?"
"Sth'Army Bro."
