Less than an hour after same sex marriage became legal in Washington on Monday, Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum was meeting with opponents of the law.
Speaking at Calvary Chapel in Olympia, the former Pennsylvania senator promised about 100 pastors and so-called “values voters” that he would work to repeal marriage equality in the state.
“We have a serious issue about trying to get moms and dads to marry and stay together,” Santorum explained. “I don’t see this as encouraging that. I think that at least from my perspective it tends to water down marriage instead of encouraging men and women to form healthy marriages, and that to me should be the objective of the government because that is in the best interests of our society.”
The candidate also spoke out about a recent U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals decision that overturned the same sex marriage ban in California.
“It’s pretty intolerant to suggest that people have no rational reason to be in favor of this institution that has been the bulwark of society for 235 years,” Santorum said, adding that both sides needed to “be respectful.”
What a load of santorum.
The only enjoyment Santorum derives from his marriage is the knowledge that he's keeping others from getting married. Smug bastard.
I want to punch this guy in the face.
Divorce waters down marriage.
yeah
gay marriages will definitely force straight couples apart
good call santo
This guy is a fucking idiot. I'm ashamed he won Minnesota.
It's pretty intolerant to be an intolerant little fuck Santorum.
You can't water down a intangible concept
Santorum, you believe that the Bible says that homosexuality is wrong, but it does not say that you should discriminate them and take away their rights! In the Bible, it says that all sins are sins, despite how big they are. So if you're going to discriminate gays, then you might as well discriminate those who tell little white lies. A true Christian should stay true to their beliefs, but they should accept and allow people to have the rights that belong to them.

So he wants "men and women to form healthy marriages," yet opposes a law that allows them to marry whoever they want. Asshole. I can't believe people take him seriously.

The bible actually instructs people to kill homosexuals. Since he can't do that in the 21st century he will just try to do the next best thing, start stripping away their rights.

All sins are forgivable, learn2christianity
the only thing worse than views like this being broadcast to millions of people is that some actually believe it
All sins are forgivable, learn2christianity
Homosexuality is not wrong in the first place, no person should have to seek forgiveness for something like that.

while that is true, these people could at least try being dumbshits in a manner consistent to the codex dumbshittus
You could start with I don't know, fixing straight marriages first
for example why the FUCK do so many series and movies show divorced couples with children as the main characters, they make it seem like it's a common, normal thing.
I think people like him Santorum-down marriage.
All sins are forgivable, learn2christianity
As far as I know, not believeing in saint spirit (or whatever the dick it's called) is, like, perma-bannable.
All sins are forgivable, learn2christianity
Except mortal sins.

What's wrong with that?
Single parents won't feel as about about their lives and married parents will feel better about themselves. And the same goes for their children too.
I don't get why he's so hung up on this.
Hey, Santorum, if you don't like same-sex marriage, then don't get one. It's as simple as that.
this is just demoralizing how people like this can even get into the political system
never mind being a presidential candidate which is fucking insanity, what the fuck happened to this country

...
because it is?
Up there, in heaven, Jesus just shed a tear for creating such a fucknut.

Only if you're Catholic right? America is primarily Protestant.
Only if you're Catholic right? America is primarily Protestant.
No, that's the main teaching of christianity. God/Jesus absolves you of your sins if you ask for it. In fact, I think Catholicism is a bit more strict on forgiveness of sins than Protestantism. In Protestantism it's a matter of prayer, whereas Catholicism you have to go to confession and do special rituals.
oh nevermind then
Never understood, what people have against gays and same-sex marriages? I'm straight, my girfriend is bisexual, who the fuck cares who am I or is she fucking with, I mean, what's the diffirence? But yet it's important enough for people to make their political agenda around this thought-into-existence question. Humanity is thousands of years away from being concerned about productivity of every single member of the society.
As for the marriages, it's kind of don't make sense (away from being about money and social help) as it is, and yet it's somehow a big deal.
