Hey,
Post all your low budget recipes for others living in apartments with not alot of money to spare for expensive cooking.
One of my favs is a really easy recipe which doesn't take long to cook.
Preperation:
You're going to need;
1 Saucepan
1 Jar of cream cheese.
1 bag of macoronni
1 Jar of Tamato paste
and some shredded cheese.
Doesn't matter what tpye of cream cheese/macoronni/tomato paste you get, the generic home brand stuff is the cheapest and best stuff to get.
What to do;
1. Put the macornni into the saucepan with water, make sure the macoronni isn't above the water and let it boil.
2. Once it's boiled, strain the macoronni and get rid of the water, put the macronni back into the sacuepan.
3. Add the tomato paste into the macoronni and stir till it's completely mixed.
4. Put about a tablespoon of cream cheese into the saucepan and stir till completely mixed.
5. Last step is to add the cheese, make sure your saucepan is on the whole duration of cooking and don't forget to put it on low whilst putting other ingredients in.
6. turn your stove off and dish the food up, it really depends on what ammount of cheese you like, it tastes even better when it's really cheesy.
Will post pictures tomorrow night, forgot to get some more tomato paste this afternoon when I went shopping.
Ingredients:
1 lb. any meat; beef, turkey, steak, chicken even pork (leftovers work great!)
1 tsp. butter or oil
1 chopped onion (any size will do)
1 clove garlic, minced
1 can cream soup (mushroom or chicken)
1/2 c. water
1 c. sour cream (optional)
Egg noodles, or rice
Directions:
Prepare egg noodles or rice. In separate pan heat the oil or butter and sauté the onion and garlic until soft. Add meat and cook until done then drain of any extra fat. Add the soup and water, simmer until heated. Remove from heat and add sour cream if desired then serve over egg noodles or rice.
(Serving over toast is a good option too)
Costs under 5 dollars.
