A Syrian refugee family has been stranded in a Moscow airport for nearly seven weeks—safe from ISIS but stuck in a nightmare of bureaucratic red tape.
The Ahmads and their four children have been camped out in an old smoking room in Sheremetyevo airport’s Terminal E transit zone since Sept 10, the BBC reported this week. Officials accused them of using fake passports to enter the country. They were denied asylum, prompting an appeal which could take months to resolve.
Well when you use a fake passport these things happen.
This shit is regular occurence, russia is like a fucking bureaucratic trap even if you're not a refugee family

Well, when you live in a country having a civil war, you might not be able to get a passport.
So what? I'd rather live in an airport than a war zone. Are we supposed to feel sympathy? They're refugees, they aren't gonna check them into the Hilton.
Being refugees doesn't mean it's okay to treat them like shit just because "at least it's not a war zone lol" because regardless of being refugees a 7 weeks wait for passports is retarded.
And what's with this black and white mentality that refugees are either treated like shit or like kings? No one's saying to put them in a Hilton lol, but surely they can do better than bursted inflatable mattresses(if the mattresses are even from the airport) especially when they're trapping the family at the airport, don't want them there then just return them the passports, surely 7 weeks is enough to verify if the passports are fake, return them and tell them to get out.

Yes but just because they're refugees doesn't mean you get to treat them like shit. Being trapped in a fucking airport for 7 weeks is a friggin nightmare.
I've been stuck in Sheremetyevo for 24 hours once, it's hell only if you don't have money or can't go out... and that is exactly the problem here. It's not like that Tom Hanks movie at all.
Was Tom Hanks with them?
