Lawyer In California Proposes Killing Gays With 'Sodomite Suppression Act'
A lawyer in California has submitted a ballot initiative with the state Department of Justice calling for the death of anyone who engages in sodomy in the state, the San Diego Gay & Lesbian News reports. The proposal by Matt McLaughlin, who lists his address in Huntington Beach, was received by the initiative coordinator at the Office of the Attorney General on Feb. 26. Enclosed was a $200 check and the complete text of his "Sodomite Suppression Act." The act outlines seven measures relating to those who engage in same-sex sodomy, "a monstrous evil that Almighty God, giver of freedom and liberty, commands us to suppress on pain of our utter destruction even as he overthrew Sodom and Gomorrha."

Seeing that it is better that offenders should die rather than that all of us should be killed by God's just wrath against us for the folly of tolerating-wickedness in our midst, the People of California wisely command, in the fear of God, that any person who willingly touches another person of the same gender for purposes of sexual gratification be put to death by bullets to the head or by any other convenient method.
Jesus Christ how do....I mean.....what

Dude why don't we kill this guy instead and move the world forward?
He really dropped all pretense of political correctness there
"bill to kill the gays"
It's amazing how you can apparently become a lawyer without knowing anything about your own constitution.
And how you can be a religious bigot in one of the most advanced countries in the world.
This person should be disbarred by the California bar association for this

What's the check for? A bribe?
$200 bucks to initiate something that would kill millions?
Guess whose career may end
tar and feather his ass

How is this being better than him though?

people like to respond with hate, towards hate
but black people didn't get equal rights by doing or saying this shit, nor did women.
Hah that dude can go fuck himself sideways, with a rake.
People are people. Treat them like people, regardless of what they are into, and as long as they don't touch children or animals, that''s just fucked up. In that case, treat them like criminals, as in people who have broken the law.
As Deep Purple sings in their song "Knocking at your backdoor" neither anal sex, or any sort of romantic and/or sexual relationship between two consenting adults, is against the law.

Probably required filing fees.
oh wait were you making a joke?
"Almighty God, giver of freedom and liberty, will have us suppress freedom and liberty because men fucking each other is more important than Nazis 2.0 in the Middle East."
yeah that makes perfect sense
Do these people even take a cursory glance at their own beliefs, or do they make it all up as they go?
Also, weren't Sodom and Gomorrah burned down, not because they were gay, but rather because they were un-neighborly or something?
Isn't it much closer to that to try to kill all the gays than to be gay?
The act outlines seven measures relating to those who engage in same-sex sodomy, "a monstrous evil that Almighty God, giver of freedom and liberty...
Apparently not the freedom and liberty to be gay without persecution.
This guy's a lawyer now. Inside of a couple of years he'll be a homeless crazy, because his reputation is now wrecked, and his career is now over.
And nothing of value is lost.
NEW lawyer flavour, McLaughlin, will have you "Laughin' with your friends"
Warning: May contain traces of nuts.
This isn't Saudi Arabia, even the most evangelical neo-conservative Christians you can find would take an issue with this. What did this guy expect to get out of this?
Why California of all states too? Isn't San Francisco practically the gay capital of the world?
I could see this being done in like, Kentucky, but for fucks sake.
Guess whose career may end
"May"?

Dude probably couldn't get a job cleaning spatulas at McDonalds after this.

The guy in question lives in Orange County, one of the most conservative parts of the state.

He wants to purge the evil from its source.

there is absolutely no way I'm not serious and saying shit for cathartic effect isn't a thing

I'm sorry for not knowing everything about the process of submitting ballot initiatives in California.
I like his style. No dicking around, he just gets his point across straight and forward. "Kill the people I don't like". None of this hemming and hawing about how you're not really prejudiced, and you're just trying to keep family values, just go all out with it. More bigots should have this kind of hustle.

He's straight and to the point, he doesn't deal with that political deflection when questioning him and proposing his ideas, he's fully honest with you--it has suppression act in the name for Christ's sake.
And the same time I seriously believe this is probably a joke, a lawyer or not. Maybe someone from California could correct me, but it seems to be you can simply send in an initiative like this to the Department of Justice and then have it reviewed, and potentially accepted, at which point you actually have to round up enough signatures to get it voted on. The article states that it's still being reviewed, so all the guy really did was submit his crazy idea. So it's rather easy, and that coupled with how abrasively to the point it is seems too much; reads like satire.
We are in the 21st fucking century, come on.
Does he not realise that the issue with Sodom and Gomorrah was less the gay bit, and more the rapist part?
Does he not realise that the issue with Sodom and Gomorrah was less the gay bit, and more the rapist part?
This is the kind of guy who cares more about gays consenting to have sex more then he does about rape by any sex
What's with those people and their obsession with the guys who fuck other guys's assholes?
They seem more homo than the own gays.
Jesus Christ, it's literally like something from Liberal Crime Squad
Honestly religion should stay out of politics.
