“The team at Mitsubishi took the chip from [Abdul Qodir Jaelani's] car and analyzed it in Japan,” Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Rikwanto said. “Two seconds before the car lost control, the speed was 176 km per hour.” Abdul Qodir Jaelani was driving a Mitsubishi Lancer sedan on the Jagorawi toll road between Bogor and Jakarta at 1:45 a.m. on Sept. 8 when he lost control before braking through the toll-road divider and hitting oncoming traffic.

Ahmad Dhani sought to apportion some of the blame to the government and the highway operator for the crash, rather than accept that it was inappropriate that a father give their 13-year-old child a powerful car to drive at 1:45 in the morning.
http://www.thejakartaglobe.com/news/ahmad-dhanis-13-year-old-son-speeding-at-176kph-before-killing-seven/
Jesus, talk about irresponsible. And trying to blame the government after that? Asshole.
In what goddamn universe does giving a 13-year old child a supercar to test drive seem like a good idea
Who would let their child drive their car on the open roads? My dad said that the only place he'd let me drive the car is where I have enough space to drive so I don't hit anyone or damage the car in any way.
Good thing I would have wanted a tank at that age. Actually wait, I still want it And wait, if I got it, it would probably end far far worse. Never mind.

Must feel awful knowing that your fuck up caused the deaths of seven people.
Must feel awful knowing that your fuck up caused the deaths of seven people.
Nah, why would he? It's the Guberment's fault.
...13 years old...106MPH...1:45AM...what the fuck was that father thinking allowing this kid on the road?!

Things like this are the reason I have panic attacks behind the wheel. They are so bad I don't drive, and my life would be a lot better if I could.
My father has the supercharged version of the Evo Lancer, the car is REALLY fast and REALLY hard to lose control with. Not only was the father and kid idiots, the boy couldn't drive either. [editline]24th October 2013[/editline] I wish these cars weren't so rare. They're amazingly cheap (60k~USD) and faster than a Lamborghini.
This guy let his child drive the car at 170 kph and somehow it's the government's fault? Must be republican.
Things like this are the reason I have panic attacks behind the wheel. They are so bad I don't drive, and my life would be a lot better if I could.
Hey man, i used to have trouble trying to drive too, i got my driver's license and i still do, i still rarely even drive. The key to overcome this is sistematic practice, it's annoying and painful (i spent like, 2 or three months having to drive almost every single day and boy i hated it) but it's necessary. Pick some deserted area in your town, ask a friend/family/whatever to be next to you while you drive and go around and train. It's necessary man, and the longer you take to overcome this the more you'll be losing. And be glad you'll have automatic cars as a norm there, i had to do all this on manual and it was a nightmare, not to mention manual steering (or whatever you call it when you don't have eletric/hydraulic systems helping you turn the wheel), so you should be fine. Edit: As a matter of fact, i remember when i was younger and my step dad and brother tried to start giving me driving lessons, we went for a section of town that is intended to be used as practice for new drivers (there was no one there at the day) and basically gave me the car and simply told me to drive a straight line. Well, nobody told me how sensitive the pedal was and i just assumed it wasn't sensitive at all, so i basically smashed it, and panic, and that made me push it even more. After a round of screams, my step dad pulling the hand brake, giving me a straight look and saying "get out of the car." I never touched another car before going to driving school :v: i was roughly 12 or so too...
In asian countries, especially in rural areas, its common to see kids around that age driving cars and bikes.
In what goddamn universe does giving a 13-year old child a supercar to test drive seem like a good idea
Since when was a Mitsubishi Lancer a supercar?
Just FYI Mitsubishi Lancer=\=Mitsubishi Lancer Evo A regular lancer sedan isn't anything more than a regular family sedan. Not a super car or even an abnormally fast car for that matter.
How many stars did he get before he got wasted?
Good thing I would have wanted a tank at that age. Actually wait, I still want it And wait, if I got it, it would probably end far far worse. Never mind.
For a short amount of time, the Polish army sold old, disarmed (but otherwise still more or less functional) tanks for a ridiculously low price. Seeing how at this point they were basically very heavy pieces of worthless metal on tracks you could imagine why they were so cheap.
In asian countries, especially in rural areas, its common to see kids around that age driving cars and bikes.
I used to do scooter runs to the grocery for a while when I was 14. Full helmet and the works and nowhere beyond 1 KM, those were the rules. Never seen many kids with cars (too expensive an asset for the family to let them use it to be honest), but motorcycles, scooters and mopeds definitely.
The father of the kid is a super rich celebrity there and apparently he paid the families of the deceased all future educational expenses.
Since when was a Mitsubishi Lancer a supercar?
Everyone is thinking it's the Evo, which by all merits kinda' is a supercar.
He couldn't wait for GTA5 to come out to the pc could he.
Jesus, talk about irresponsible. And trying to blame the government after that? Asshole.
He is probably in denial because of the grief of losing his son. No one wants to think that they are responsible for their own child's death, never mind that of seven people. He'll come to terms with it eventually and realise the deaths are on his hands but it isn't fault that he won't take the blame, it is just how the brain deals with traumatic experiences sometimes.
In what goddamn universe does giving a 13-year old child a supercar to test drive seem like a good idea
A Lancer is FAR from a super car.
Things like this are the reason I have panic attacks behind the wheel. I've got a 200$ bmx but I don't ride enough for a really nice one. Trust me, you'll be much more happy, and healthy that way.
So unfair. This kid just ruined 7 people's lives and he's sitting in bed happily. Worst thing is, the father (who's almost entirely to blame) is probably going to get off without any punishment either.
And i'm pretty sure your dad's car wasn't a sports car what can easily hit over 170km/h
170 km/h is only about 110 mph which most cars can do, at least in America. I still don't know who would let their 13 year old drive a car like that, especially on open roads at speeds like that.

I mean, my '99 non-turbo Impreza hits the speedlimiter at 180kmh/112mph and keeps bouncing off it wanting to go faster. And thats with 220k miles on it. The Lancer, if it is not an Evo, has about 150hp. If it is an Evo, it has between 300 and 400hp. Either way, its not a ton. Not a supercar by any means. My Impreza has 145hp, while my dads pickup has 400hp with about 800lb-ft of torque
