It's that time of the year again, I gotta have a new guitar.
:siren:THIS ISN'T A "CHOOSE FOR ME" THREAD! I JUST WANT YOUR OPINIONS TO HELP WITH THE DECISION!:siren:
So right now I have two guitars; Schecter Omen-7 and Parker P44
Schecter (Irreplaceable)

Parker (One I will switch to another possibly)

This is the guitar I've been looking at.
PRS Paul Allender Signature (No idea who Paul Allender is, but the guitar is gorgeous)

* Mahogany Body
* Solid maple top with curly Maple Veener
* Maple Neck
* Rosewood fretboard

* Gold Hardware
Price: 822€
Here's the specs of the Parker
Specs:
* Solid Mahogany body
* Maple Neck
* Phenol fretboard
* Parker Stinger humbuckers
* Parker Tremolo
* Fishman piezo
* Grover tuners
* 22 Frets
Price when I bought it: ~750€
They are not all that different, but the lack of Piezo on the PRS is making this hard. Though I don't use the Piezo THAT much, but it would be a nice add to it. I might build one to it myself if I really feel the need of it.
So which one would you take?
Haha, you stole my idea from the guitar thread about the paul allender. I've done plenty of researching, and judging by the specifications, go for the PRS. It's a beautiful guitar, and the reviews I've read about it say it plays great. I'm getting my paul allender in a month!
Why do you need another guitar?
You really only need one electric, and an acoustic.
That of course, is all based on how well put together the instrument is, and how well it plays in your hands.
I say, sell them both, and find something in the store that you can play to not only hear how it sounds, but feel the neck, and get comfortable with the instrument.
It's worth nothing if you're not comfortable with playing it, that's why ordering online can be risky if you've never tried out the guitar.

What happens if you want to play brutal death metal one day, and your only electric guitar is a vintage Fender Stratocaster?
OP, I definitely recommend switching. The new guitar is a beauty, and will probably play better than that Parker. I've never liked 22 fret guitars.

First of all. The amp is much more important in producing different tones than the guitar, but let's leave that aside for a moment shall we?
Hmm, Death metal on a strat eh?
Here:
-Use the strat
-Turn up the bass a quarter on the knob
-Switch to bridge position
-Turn your treble to 7 on the amp
-Turn the bass to 7
-Turn the mids to 7
-Crank the amp with tube driven distortion.
There..... god.. too many people think the tone is in the guitar.. it's not hard to get SC's to sound full bodied..
Learn to use your EQ settings.. Then comment..
oh yea, and I found this after some quick searching on youtube if you want proof.

Maybe he just wants a different guitar? How is that a bad thing? Jesus. And actually, a LOT of tone is from the guitar, if it wasn't, there'd be no need for more than 1 type of guitar.

It's not just about the amp dude. There are legitimate reasons to get different guitars. Different guitars are undoubtedly better for specific playing styles.
Also having more than one is useful when you like keeping a specific guitar in a specific tuning. I've always considered having multiple guitars and having one or more geared towards a tuning and have them stay in that tuning.
So I could got from playing blues on E standard on a Les Paul to playing metal in something like drop C on an Ibanez.

That sounds fuzzy and horrible.
Sure, you can get it to sound kinda ok, but why settle for 'ok' when you can have several guitars that each do their own thing better than the others?

Why do something good when you can be just cheap?

The one guitar has seven strings, the other one doens't. This is why I need two guitars. Simple math.

I'm just saying, you could have a bunch of mediocre guitars in a certain price range, or you could just save up and have something really nice on your hands, like a custom USACG, Carvin, Warmoth, etc.
I'm not trying to bash anyone, but I think it's a little ridiculous to keep buying more and more guitars because over the years, I've found that there are always a couple that never get played and that kind of bugs me, especially since good money was paid for that instrument.
That being said, I sold my 3 guitars and built a custom Warmoth, and it's really all I've ever needed. Because of the fact that it was built to my specs, all other neck profiles don't feel as comfortable to me now.

...did you just recommend him to sell both his guitars, and that you should only have one electric.
What the fuck is this heresy!?!?!!

...Cause it's better to be good than shit?

No I'm saying that he can have more than one guitar if he really wants to. Like everyone else said, it's good to have a guitar set to a different tuning, or just designated for a different style, like metal, if your into that sort of thing.
I personally just play psychedelic prog rock, and I only own a custom built Tele, and an acoustic. That's all I really need.
I'm saying that he should save up for a really nice guitar for his style, and maybe find another for his backup, and he'll be set.
It's kind of pointless having guitars laying around that you don't use, but then again, I don't live at home anymore and I pay rent, so that's probably why because I don't have the extra money to keep something I don't use.
Nothing against people who own lots of guitars, but it kind of bugs me because I only end up playing the one I like most. As said before, you can play metal on a strat, but will it sound good? Maybe to me because I don't play metal, but to diehard metal fans, the answer is undoubtedly no.
Well the guy from nightwish plays a tele.
And it's not really the sound of the guitar that's the problem it's usually the playability, for example an ibanez is lighter, and just has a faster neck. Where as a Dean Razorback is like strapping a block of lead to your neck and trying to play a tree with strings.
Why am i mocking the razorback i may be getting one for 300 pound.
