The two neighbouring projects - from Moray Offshore Renewables Limited and Beatrice Offshore Windfarm Limited - involve a total of 326 turbines. The Scottish government said the combined development off the Caithness coast would be the world's third biggest offshore wind farm. The project could generate electricity for more than a million homes. If constructed, the scheme would have more turbines than the 175-turbine London Array. It would also be the third largest in the world after the planned 2.5 gigawatt South Korea Electric Power scheme and Swedish Blekinge project in the Baltic Sea which could involve up to 700 turbines. Work for up to 4,600 people could be created at the peak of the construction of the turbines, and the combined scheme would be worth up to £2.5bn to the Scottish economy.
This is separate from the one Donald Trump tried to stop
Considering scotlands current population is 5.295 million est, that's a pretty amazing figure. 1/5 of the power for the entire country.
london has a wind farm? go figure i guess.
london has a wind farm? go figure i guess.
Yeah, all the corrupt politicians speaking bullshit really kicks up a gust of air.
Is it me or are wind turbines really nice to look at in landscapes or the sea or whatever? As opposed to ugly-ass power plants and factories et cetera, such turbines (once they're done being constructed and all the bullshit around it clears out) actually add something methinks. Kind of serene. or maybe i'm just weird dunno

I've always got a fear when I'm near a wind turbine that the blades will detach and hit me

I like the offshore ones. We're an island and running out of space, so why not utilise it over land based wind farms?

And afaik plans are in motion to make use of those ones that use waves to generate electricity. Makes me genuinely proud to think that i will more than likely see my country use 100% renewable energy in my lifetime
Makes me genuinely proud to think that i will more than likely see my country use 100% renewable energy in my lifetime
Scotland is set to achieve that within the next ten years

Saying "world's third largest" implies that we have wind farms not on Earth? Is there something the government isn't telling us? Is the allumanate hiding the truth?

The weird thing is that most 35+ people really hate them and say that they somehow destroy the sight of the countrysight or some shit.
london has a wind farm? go figure i guess.
Its the largest god damn offshore wind farm on the planet. I can't remember if that's size or power generated, but its serious. The UK is responsible for a HUGE percentage of the worlds power that is generated via wind. Quite amazing. Maybe we are just weird.
Windfarms are great, there are some on a hill overlooking where I live and they are just nice to look at. Though it is a bit weird during the rare nice days on summer when they just aren't moving.
Considering scotlands current population is 5.295 million est, that's a pretty amazing figure. 1/5 of the power for the entire country.
you assume one person to a household there are only 2.4 million households in Scotland, which means this wind farm could generate power for 42% of the households in scotland at peak of course windfarms never operate at peak, wind turbines are really unreliable - and there are other uses for electricity out side of the home
As good as it sounds, and as much as I want independence, you can't run a country on 100% renewable energy simply because they're not reliable. It's not sunny all the time, it's not windy all the time, it's not a guaranteed source of power. Scotland needs another nuclear reactor for true energy independence when we break away from the UK (we currently have one and it's owned by the French government), but the general public are shit scared of anything with the word "nuclear" in it. (see Trident: a nuclear DETERRENT, which is pretty useful to have considering that situations like what's happening now in Russia may escalate very quickly).
This sounds pretty cool, I was confused at first though because I read the title as "wheat" not wind.
