Wonderful, this really makes up for the complete shite the balancing in the game has gotten to
God dammit, more promos?
Woot, more hats!
Reinstalling now!
More stuff for Hat Fortress?! I guess they have too much time on there hands to put hats instead of fixing the stupid phong bug in the source engine.
Don't they know that people hate this shit now?
sigh
Don't they know that people hate this shit now?
there are people that like that shit too~
Don't they know that people hate this shit now?
the number of people who eat this shit up outweigh the number of people who hate it
Who wants free M&B?
Buy the game, get the hats.
Sell the hats to idiots on those forums.

Nope, sorry, there are plenty of people who play tf2 and still enjoy it, and don't whine whenever a fucking cosmetic promo is added. Get over it. The only terrible promo was the Rift promo as it gave payers an exclusive advantage for several weeks.
Seriously, I don't think you realize how much of a small minority these "people" you refer to are.
I'm one of those who still enjoy the game as it is.
I mean they are fucking hats. If that is what "ruined" the game for you, you might want to look at what the game really is about.
the number of people who eat this shit up outweigh the number of people who hate it
Yeah there's still a lot of people that realize promo hats don't affect them in anyway unless they buy them.
the number of people who eat this shit up outweigh the number of people who hate it
I would love to see were you get this unbiased and quantifiable data.

if it never catched on valve wouldn't still be making hats and raking in the money from all the suckers out there
I really hate Valve, but I gotta hand it to Gabe for being one hell of a businessman.

I still enjoy the game and play it a lot, but I do hate when they add stuff like this.
I remember when each TF2 update would be really interesting.
Now even the large updates are boring.
also:
What else is up? This: SpaceChem, the game Robin Walker dubbed "pretty much the greatest game ever made," has introduced three new TF2-themed levels. Travel to Australia, solve puzzles and unlock achievements to receive the new craftable element Moustachium in TF2. Use this new element to craft special SpaceChem-themed items, including a fishcake. That's right: this marks the start of a trend we're all for: other developer working their butts off to make a promotion for us. "Put your feet up, Team Fortress Team," SpaceChem seems to be saying. "You let us handle this one." Don't mind if we do, SpaceChem. Don't mind if we do.
Probably going to pre-purchase Mount and Blade even though I don't play TF2 anymore

I'm a primeval warrior with ~1000hours of tf2 play time. I quit tf2 a while back because of all the new useless shit they added to it.
[editline]28th April 2011[/editline]
They did ruin the game.
I only hate the hats because of people giving them "cash value."
Therefor making other hats hard to get because people sell them for money.
Regardless of silly updates like this, I will continue playing TF2 happily.

Just because you spent over 1000 none-idling hours doesn't mean you represent the entire TF2 community. Not to mention your backpack shows you last played at least since the christmas update, and nothing too big has happened since then, so chances are you just quit because of hats.
They didn't ruin the game, you're just making a big deal over cosmetics.

I probably made at least $300 in Paypal and Steam games in TF2, I'm glad that there are people out there who buy hats. As long as weapons aren't a huge pain in the ass to get, I don't see why you're complaining.
I'm a Primeval Warrior, I've stopped playing the game largely. But sometimes I still play it for fun.
It's definitely not the game it used to be, and in a way, that's sad. That said though, I still play it every once in a while.
Mount And Blade hats? Do we need hats for every random game?
