A movie about the persecuted Christian minority in the US standing up to the oppressive Atheists? Finally
funny since the whole "god is dead" thing comes around because an essay by Nietzsche, who was not talking about god, but a death of these divine conceptions we gave to what we understood as "truth".
It was a big allegory
jesus fucking christ
I can agree with the message that people should believe what they want and not have anything forced on them, but then in America, many people are practically forced to believe in God through being raised by it or muscled into hiding their faith by a bunch of dumb rednecks.
hhahaha fucking fundies
tips fedora and leaves with a flurry of leather trenchcoat
Who cares what you believe. It's really about how it makes you a better person, and how much of a positive difference it makes for others.
I wonder how this movie ends. My guess is that the professor used to be religious, but turned away from God because of his own guilt, which increased his doubt/fear of his divine self, or some other shit.

being an atheist because you hate god must be one of the most bullshit contradictions out there.

Maybe he just says he's an atheist instead of telling the whole story about how he fell out with God or whatever. Or maybe he is just turned into an atheist through his own wrong doing, hate, resentment, etc. He no longer believes in the reality of God through his own unrighteous behavior.

It kinda makes sense. The guy at first talks about kids watching their parents die because of diseases and stuff.
That makes you hate God, since he let your mom die even though you prayed to him every night (since most families make their kids pray I'll use it). As you grow you think that if a God existed he wouldn't let such things happen to his creation, thus you stop believing in him. Or if he existed he's a massive asshole so you don't want to believe in him.
