A young woman was restrained, force-fed and injected with cosmetics in a high street shop window as part of a hard-hitting protest against animal testing. Jacqueline Traide was tortured in front of hundreds of horrified shoppers in a bid to raise awareness and end the practise. The 24-year-old endured 10 hours of experiments, which included having her hair shaved and irritants squirted in her eyes, as part of a worldwide campaign by Lush Cosmetics and The Humane Society. The disturbing stunt took place in Lush’s Regent Street store, one of the UK’s busiest shopping streets.
Full article: http://www.artfido.com/blog/artist-gets-tortured-like-an-animal-to-raise-awareness-for-animal-cosmetics-testing/
I've heard of being dedicated to proving a point, but this is so far beyond ridiculous I'm amazed. There are other ways to raise support against animal abuse.
Is that a needle in the eye? i am NOT watching that
Not a needle, those are irritants being sprayed into her eyes, though she was injected with other things apparently.
This doesn't sound like it worked or helped their cause all that much.
"Art"
Kinky
This doesn't sound like it worked or helped their cause all that much.
You can say that again. This is probably going to make other animal rights organizations get lumped into the same category as this and PETA, as like as not.
for a cause or not, it's torture.. anyway, this headline is p. old. Also your article doesn't work.
I found the vegan! This is pretty damn far though.
"Art"
"protest"
What exactly is wrong with this, other than making you uncomfortable?
other than making you uncomfortable?
Not doing a good job at that tbh
This is insanely late. Like, [del]December[/del] 2012, late.
What exactly is wrong with this, other than making you uncomfortable?
Look, I can understand the undertaking of a fast, but physically torturing yourself for any cause by the deliberate infliction of pain and suffering just to prove a point borders more on fanaticism for my liking than anything else.
This is someone's fetish, remember.
Honestly. There's a difference between Testing on Rats and testing on things like dogs. These people tend to lump all animal testing into a bin and act like its all the same.
What exactly is wrong with this, other than making you uncomfortable?
That's not it, the issue is that it's quite frankly retarded to subject yourself to torture to raise awareness for animals. There are better ways to go about protesting, ways that aren't disturbing to children or gimmicky. This is probably so bad that its counter-productive to animal rights activists
Our regulation on animal testing is one of the strictest ones in the world, quite possibly the strictest. We're the only country in the world that requires cost benefit analysis's for most animal testing, and have several pieces of legislation regarding animal cruelty and testing that are updated pretty frequently. There are probably loopholes in our current system, and definitely parts that need improvement, but this doesn't exactly have much value past pure shock.
can't believe they strip the bunnies of their clothes before the experiments. imagine the indignity :(

We can tell this wasn't productive since it's been almost 2 years and there's nothing about it. Cookie for trying though
comparing animal testing to human testing is thoughtless, as the two are ethically incompatible only delusional people compare the two
Hot
what a fucktoy
This is someone's fetish, remember.
It's almost definitely her own fetish, she wouldn't agree to it otherwise.
Do they put mouth gags on the testing animals?
comparing animal testing to human testing is thoughtless, as the two are ethically incompatible only delusional people compare the two
How exactly? Are humans superior to animals in a way that they deserve better treatment?
