The true Dark Messiah experience.
Judging by what he said, the next game he's going to review is either going to be Dead Space or Stomp The Yard: The Movie: The Game. This is one of my favorite games. I always play stealth and strength. I could play magic but melee is too much fun and I use the ice bow to put ice on the ground
I bought this on steam because it was dirt cheap, then played through the whole thing in one sitting because it was fantastic. Its a shame they've never made a sequel.

This game is really fun, the gameplay is amazing. And the feeling of kicking enemies down the stairs or anything else - worth the spice.
Game is known by some publications as "The Adventures of Sir Kicksalot Deathboot in the Land of the Conspicuously Placed Spike Racks".•
hue
I really like how your head moves first and your arms follow later. It feels like I'm connected to a body whereas most other first person games feel like I'm just a floating torso.

One of those gems that just was. And what a gem it is.
Who was the guy who called that his next video would be this? Good call.
Who was the guy who called that his next video would be this? Good call.
P sure it was LeonS, but it's not like it wasn't too obvious
This game is fantastic. If any of you guys decide to do a replay there are several mods I highly recommend
There are some nice mods for this game, Weapon Tweak Pack, which makes the misc weapons more useful Sustenance, which makes food and potions better Archer's Requiem, which makes bows better Unholy/holy weapons mod, which makes holy and unholy (souldrinker for example) better You can get these on the dark messiah nexus, since they were uploaded there from when Gamefront went the way of the dodo. Also there is a mod on steam's guide section called Unlimited Edition that is really nice to have too. It is like a bug fixing mod, with some nifty features and also some optional addons which are also nice. Highly recommended. I have all these mods together and also a green orc skin mod because I love having my orcs green :V
I had actually reinstalled this about a month ago and tried to replay. What I had forgotten was that it's super buggy, has really clunky controls, pretty bad looking for a source game (although, it was super early so forgivable) and has REALLY frequent load screens. I was trying to put up with all the bullshit but it just kept crashing.
my game had these 2 bizarre issues. one issue was a case of the "you can't fire me. I quit!". basically whenever I exited the game, it'd crash. it did this every single time. another issue that I had was that during two points in the game, my framerate just gradually stopped going down. it went from 60 to just less and less and less until it got to about 4-5 where it just remained. no idea why.

As it did 10 years ago.
I kinda disagree with him on the bow part. Sure early game bows are hard to use right, but as you get the lategame bow perks, it turns into a headshot machinegun which can kill most enemies in about 2 hits if you can aim.
I'm glad he mentioned the floaty movement but it's a shame he didn't mention the fact it's directly related to how the game treats full body awareness. He doesn't even mention full body awareness at all which I thought was also a shame since despite the negative impact on movement it's legitimately cool to have a game like this where literally your whole body from the neck down is visible instead of a pair of wobbly legs which are seemingly coming out of your jawline.
He also forgot about how hilariously broken fully upgraded stealth is. You become completely invisible in ANY shadow. I'd just stand behind a pillar in a well lit room, execute a guy, then someone will come over to investigate it, then I'd execute them too and I'd keep doing it until the room is cleared.
Is there a tweak for Dark Messiah that enables windowed mode? Because fucking seriously, that game just. . inexplicably does not allow it, and I hate playing games in fullscreen. It's less bad than when I first got it, since now I have two screens, but holy shit why? You couldn't even force it afaik
I have good memories of this game, I remember not having that good of a computer aswell at the time and couldn't run it maxed out, then coming back to it a while later with better shit and running it maxed, it was so good to playthrough. Also Xana is best.
The main thing I remember about this game is me sneaking up to the final boss and just backstabbing him. :v:
I have the special edition for this game, and i fucking loved it so much, it really was ahead of its time it had so many options and was just generally so fun to play! kinda pissed they didn't make another it had so much potential. 6:19 the orc didn't do damage Leiana's fireball hit him in the back, so it wasn't a valid complaint.
It's doing the whole "crash on quit" to me right now. As it did 10 years ago.
Thank you for playing Wing Commander!
Playing it again it's more clunky than I remember but it still has some of the most satisfying kick and ragdoll systems I've seen in a game even after all these years. My biggest annoyance is just how fucking long it takes to unsheathe your weapon again after a spell.
I wonder, how does this compare to skyrim? I should have played this before, this is a great game.
The main thing I remember about this game is me sneaking up to the final boss and just backstabbing him. :v:
P sure I just literally beastmoded him and he died when he impacted the ceiling.
Even after nearly 11 years, I still hope this game gets a sequel. It doesn't even have to be directly connected to the original, just let me kick orcs into spike racks again!
