A Tesco customer has been given a 12-month community order after changing the display image of a demonstration iPad to a pornographic photo.
He was spotted on CCTV by security staff and the police were called.

I am sure he will think long and hard about this decision
This sentence is overkill as fuck, If anything he should just be banned from visiting this store
He did try to undo what he did, but panicked when he was unable to. I think that deserves a lighter sentence than what he got.
I'm wondering what sort of porn he put on there. How bad it was should factor into his sentence. Are we talking some really softcore "may as well be a Victoria's Secret ad" stuff? Some breasts? More hardcore stuff, like genitalia or even full on intercourse? Was it really hardcore kinky stuff? Or are we dealing with some serious shit you would see from /d/ or DAAS?
Because if some kid sees a woman in a bra, no big deal. Some breasts? Not much of a big deal. Intercourse? That's bad, although not horrible. But if they see a 20-titted legless cow monster with a cunt for a face being inflated by a blue bear while moaning about being foreverially turned into cheese wizz, then they're going to need some therapy.

I don't think he deserves any sentence, unless it was CP.

I think it was the one where people dress up in leather boy scout uniforms and smash each other in the head with ball-peen hammers while they take turns blowing their cat
'Victim' surcharge of £60
bless you Cameron and your war on indecency
we should all think of the children

Most "crimes" come with one of those - even drug possession charges.
I got kicked out of Tescos when I was 17 for giving the middle finger to the tablet camera with a few friends. They seem to have a boner for overreacting.

Just another way to get more money out of people. I've seen them on things where there's not even an actual victim.
I was kicked out of a Tesco threatening to tickle an employee when he refused to tell me where the cornbeef hash was.
I went round my local Tesco with a friend using my phones 'Internet Sharing' feature thing. Added a new previous WiFi network to most of the devices called 'ASDA is cheaper'. Going to have to reverse it when I next venture into ASDA.
I'm so mature.
The fuck
The police are for goddamn emergencies. Tesco should be charged for wasting the police's time, honestly. Just ban the guy from the store and be done with it.
Well the laws are fabulous as always. In Sweden you could get up to 5 years for poaching, but pedophiles get around three to five months i think. Gotta protect the governments property

You 'ought to be shot. That's a crime against humanity.
A bit overkill but it's his own fault for doing something so dumb.
The security guy just gave me an odd stare when I set a picture of ainsley harriott as a Mac's wallpaper
Whatever happened to googling "blue screen of death" and opening the image in fullscreen?
$220 fine and 100 hours of community service for setting the wallpaper of a display ipad to porn?
REALLY?
What the fuck
If this was in America it wouldn't even be fucking news the store clerk would see it, roll their eyes, make some sort of angsty teenager noise, fix it, and then bitch about it to their coworkers
This is retarded
Why not just ban him from visiting that specific tesco for 6 months to a year? He's not going to give a shit about community service and a fine.
Here in the Netherland's it's a thing to reorder letter shaped chocolate bars into words like slut and whore. No one cares.

I wouldn't be so sure, America doesn't exactly have a reputation for reasonable police reactions either :v:
I have changed the homepage to RedTube in many display models :v:
I (and many other people) do this all the time what the hell

the point is that the police would never be involved???? the only reason the cops are called in britain is because people are pretty much taught that the police do everything in terms of punishment and that they themselves don't have the power to do anything
it's the exact opposite in america, people are taught that the cops don't give a shit so most businesses would handle this themselves. dumb as fuck to call the cops over some photo on a tablet.

This sort of thing wouldn't even warrant a cop to respond in America
If you called the police the only reason the dispatcher wouldn't laugh at you is because their calls are recorded and they'd get in trouble.
IF a cop came by, they'd just take the barest possible notes and move on without ever following up because no one here gives a shit

jeez louise i don't think anyone really cared to hear about how bad america's police force is in the first place
Does anyone know what gives a court the right to impose such a sentence? Like what law is being applied? The article fails to mention, but I could be missing something fundamental about how Common Law works.
