Shooto Brazil plans on making history on Dec. 20 when Emerson Falcao takes on Juliana Velasquez at Shooto 45 in a mixed-gender fight. Yes, you read that right. A man will be competing against a woman in a professional MMA bout.
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1892314-shooto-brazil-promoting-first-male-vs-female-fight-in-mma-history Pretty sure no good can come of this

Women have a different set of advantages compared to a man, but I think they're still fairly balanced. You've never seen a woman with bloodlust, have you?
A trained women is as dangerous if not moreso than a male counterpart. Several studies have shown that females are better at endurance hunting then men.
A trained women is as dangerous if not moreso than a male counterpart. Several studies have shown that females are better at endurance hunting then men.
Because men hunt smarter, not harder :v:
Because men hunt smarter, not harder :v:
Except most colleges these days have a majority of women and that kind of shows that they're generally a little bit smarter than dudes lol
I don't envy the male fighter. Women MMA fighters can be fucking terrifyingly competent at the art of busting skulls. There's no glory to be had for him, best case scenario he wins the intergender bout in the most expected victory ever and there's always the chance of losing to her.

If he were to beat the breaks off of her, it wwould decimate the public's view of MMA
Except most colleges these days have a majority of women and that kind of shows that they're generally a little bit smarter than dudes lol
I'm sure there are numerous statistics you could cite to claim whichever gender is smarter, but the university study rate is kinda far removed to make that generalization
Except most colleges these days have a majority of women and that kind of shows that they're generally a little bit smarter than dudes lol
I am highly supportive of women in higher education but this is the dumbest post I have seen today.
We need to get over the childish concept of "lol dood u lost to a gurl lol fag~"
Not really. Professional athletics of literally any variety are pretty much always gender segregated because men and women naturally compete physically at different levels. Its not as childish as lol shesagurl because in physical sports men legitimately tend to be far more capable.
Except most colleges these days have a majority of women and that kind of shows that they're generally a little bit smarter than dudes lol
More means better? idk about that
Except most colleges these days have a majority of women and that kind of shows that they're generally a little bit smarter than dudes lol
nope that just shows that they get into colleges more.
It's not really true either but w/e
if he wins, no praise because it was a women if he loses, loses rep because it was a women lose/lose situation.
Depends entirely on the class. I wouldn't want to watch a heavyweight male vs female fight because we all know that the dude isn't going to lose. However, a lightweight fight can be pretty good. Women aren't incompetent in this class, their punches and kicks cans hurt just as much as a male's.
Except most colleges these days have a majority of women and that kind of shows that they're generally a little bit smarter than dudes lol
I thought it was widely regarded that the average intelligence for both men and women is about the same, but the deviation in intelligence in much greater in men. Leading to men having a more spread out intelligence, which means there are a lot of really intelligent men, and a lot of really unintelligent men.
Source?
Trying to find the exact book, but have the Wikipedia Article. Yale University conducted a few studies, and found that women will generally have higher success rates while hunting then males. The brute comparison was that a women came back with a kill 30% of the time, while the male came back with a kill 18% to 20% of the time. On the other hand though, when Males and Women hunt together, their success rate reaches 40% to 50%.

Thanks for confirming my sneaky suspicions. [editline]17th December 2013[/editline]
Not really. They don't know what they're getting themselves into? Poor them, right? I will say this, though, I didn't realise he was a heavyweight. That is a shift in the man's favour. I think if we had like flyweights or something fighting each other, we'd have a real match.

Women aren't built the same as men. Narrower hips for men allow for better kicks. Men on average have denser bones, bigger lungs and hearts and on athletes 10% faster reaction speed. Men just have more power in general. It would only be fair if the man and the woman were in different weight classes. I don't think its fair. Look up Fallon Fox, a man to woman transgender mma fighter who went on destroying women in a cage women without telling anyone she is transgender. Even those fights weren't fair and Fallon as been on hormone therapy for a long long time.
Have you guys even looked at the fighters? I haven't seen a weigh-in but it could really be anybodys' match. Velasquez says she is already used to sparring with men.
Amazonian Brazil woman. Poor guy.
Have you guys even looked at the fighters? I haven't seen a weigh-in but it could really be anybodys' match. Velasquez says she is already used to sparring with men.
Aren't men more densely built than women?
IIRC, another study has shown that the current vegetarian and feminism movements are leading more women to become Rabbit, Deer, and Duck hunters.
Amazonian Brazil woman.
The mention of the Aeta people wasn't actually found found in the book that wikipedia referenced.
Well shit, I'll keep looking around, but my other post kinda notes that female hunters are actually on the rise in North America. Namely tied in with the whole vegetarian movement and all that.
Also, for people who wanna see
Interesting. This is her first professional MMA fight. Even assuming she obviously did semi-pro or whatever matches before this, it seems like an odd match-up for her debut. I don't exactly want to watch a man beat up a woman, and I don't really want to watch a woman beat up a man so I'm probably just not going to watch this.
