No matter how much I eat or how potent they are edibles only get me buzzed or not high at all. It takes around 3 hours to get some effect but just wears off after awhile. I've been to parties where everyone eats some really chronic edibles and everyone gets high but me. Does anybody know why? I don't think it's a tolerance problem for me because I only smoke a few times a month and I get high very high easily.
I've had this experience with firecrackers, really don't get much of a high and a very minimal and short-lived body high. I've tried them at various temperatures and cook durations to no avail. The only thing I can recommend which is a correlation I've noticed (that may or may not be the cause) is that they are far more effective with a much quicker onset if you avoid eating anything for the entire day (and even the previous evening) beforehand. I've had minimal experience with cannabutter containing baked goods but from what I have, it's about the same.
iirc some edibles can be more potent than others from the same batch
Maybe you just got the weaker ones.

I actually ate about half a cookie I bought yesterday about 3 hours ago and Im just starting to feel a little.
We're they homemade or from a dispensary?
We're they homemade or from a dispensary?
Homemade. My friend who made them said they are 8x more potent but I think hes bullshitting me. Ill wait awhile before I eat the other half
Edibles are fucking stupid if you ask me, they take so long to kick in and last so long that you have to put off so many hours of your day for it, it's like planning out an acid trip or something, except you actually have to prepare the shit too. And if it's gonna take that long, why not just drop acid instead? Much more fun.
Besides, I find some of the appeal in weed to be the actual smoking process. Just kicking back and feeling and seeing the smoke go in and out of your lungs is really fun to me. It's basically half the reason I sometimes smoke cigarettes, too.
In my experience, If your edibles didn't takes like dank weed, they probably weren't very amazing.
But I could make a tiny-ass cookie with tons of dank and it'd taste dank as fuck but have the same effect as if I made a regular-sized cookie with the same amount and it not tasting dank as fuck.
I would look at your technique of making your butter/oil
You're supposed to put butter, a little water and weed on a low simmer on a stove for at a minimum of 2 hours, some recipes say several hours to overnight. I know people like to cut corners and are impatient as I am
The minimum time I've simmered the butter for is actually four hours, with lots of water because it actually doesn't matter due to the fact that they separate upon condensing, there's no dilution factor to it with the active constituents bonding only to the fats. It's merely not effective, even with wasteful amounts of weed in it. There's got to be some kind of explanation for this, I get ripped as shit if I inhale (which due to my medical condition is now out of the question entirely.)
maybe it's a metabolism thing? your body might just not be utilising it effectively for some reason, like how some people are pretty much immune to DXM trips.
it may also actually be tolerance, in my experience edibles build tolerance a lot faster than smoking. one time I bought 20 hash candies from a dispensary, on the first day I ate two and was totally fucked off my face and I don't remember much from that day except that I got mad munchies and ate like everything in the house. The next day I ate 3 candies and it wasn't nearly as intense as the first 2 were on that previous day, a pretty fuzzy buzz at best.

Because it's completely different from acid?
He should instead take weed AND acid. Some of my best drug experiences were on acid and weed

All the thc is extracted in about an hour, the only thing you gain from continuing to simmer it is worse tasting, greener butter.
All the thc is extracted in about an hour, the only thing you gain from continuing to simmer it is worse tasting, greener butter.
The lower temperature you use, the longer it has to simmer for all the THC to decarboxylate. The advantage of prolonging the process this way is less risk of accidentally vaporizing it.

I agree. If he does everything properly, and people around him get far higher than he does from the edibles even though he has no substantial tolerance, I suspect it's due to some metabolism difficulties.
I have no idea how the metabolism/absorption of THC differs orally as compared to inhaled, but I imagine it does somehow, especially seeing as the high tends to be prolonged and somewhat altered. Perhaps some enzyme deficiency could be the cause of this?

So could it because I have slow or fast metabolism? Im pretty sure mines average

Na I meant specific metabolism for oral consumption of cannabinoids.

Is there anything you don't know? lol you're the oracle of facepunch it seems
He doesn't *know*, he's just making educated guesses at best.
Try smoking a joint about an hour after eating, then it'll get you
Could just be your body, everybody's different.
I get 8 miles high whenever I eat edibles, shit has me couchlocked all day.
Eat it then smoke a bowl pack, you're welcome

Half a cookie doesn't sound like a whole lot, even if they're so-called "8x more potent"
Usually when I munched hashbrownies I'd down a 4-5 or so, with a baking of 2g for 10 pce or 5g for 25'ish.

well that's why, your standard brownies are gonna be made with like a quarter to a half oz, you just have made less potent ones, so you have to eat more haha

I don't get why people rated this funny. The one and only time i had edibles, it didn't kick in until that moment. Then I was fucked

yeah.
Nothing is funnier than sitting there waiting for them to hit you and its like just as you think it all systems are go and you get propelled into space like one of those slingshot rides at the carnival.
I get a little high when I have cookies. For whatever reason firecrackers always fuck me up at insane level. It's most likely how your body handles it.
