What?
Gahhh! The stupid! It hurts!
Ow, the retardation hurts.
I used this as an excuse to a hippy as to why I don't ride a bike to wrok.
Really, I just don't know how to.
If you read the source he's right, YOU would physically be giving off more CO2 than a person driving a car. He doesn't really reference the cars exaust :v:
He's wrong about the road tax though, bikes shouldn't really need to pay for that since I'm pretty sure they don't damage the road like a thousand+pound car would.

title is sensationalist like always
I hear that argument about paying for roads a lot. Most people I know, even regular bike commuters, still own a car and use it, so yeah, they do pay the road tax.
I don't know how someone could honestly think that a person puts out more CO2 by exerting themselves than a car, if it were, I should be getting a tax break for sitting at home doing nothing.
If I am not mistaken, a cyclists [sic] has an increased heart rate and respiration. That means that the act of riding a bike results in greater emissions of carbon dioxide from the rider. Since CO2 is deemed to be a greenhouse gas and a pollutant, bicyclists are actually polluting when they ride.
The only bad thing going into the air caused by bicycles is the smell of sweat
"YOU would be giving off more"
as in the human
he's bending words around to try and prove another point but its true
I ride a bike, I cannot confirm this..
Well, by this logic, humans, along with every other carbon fixing organism that is a consumer, should be taxed or regulated for polluting the atmosphere. I don't think you can blame someone for their natural metabolic processes. If you could, ban all sports, they pollute too much.
I sit on my computer all day and never raise my heart rate, I should be receiving money for being such a good environmentalist.
Solution: stop breathing. Planet fixed, drop my check in my mail please thanks.

but the amount of extra CO2 you exhale is negligible compared to the amount of CO2 a car emits. the earth can handle 500 million people exhaling more CO2. it can't handle 500 million people putting CO2 into the air via cars. he's still a complete fucking moron either way, regardless of whether or not the article is sensationalist and twisted
breathing.
by doing so we're killing the earth.
by this man's logic everyone should just stop breathing.

has he heard of how plants inhale co2 and make o2? and how that's like the basis of how oxygen gets in our atmosphere?
also cyclists don't produce carbon monoxide either...
I fart every time I ride my bike.
I just fart all the time in general.
I was wondering when this would show up.
Oh. It's just Seattle. Was a little worried about my state for a second there.
I sit on my computer all day and never raise my heart rate, I should be receiving money for being such a good environmentalist.
Don't lie. You look at porn.
this wouldn't have happened if we hadn't legalized marijuana!
This is such a smartass statement. "Oh well you yourself are giving off less C02 if you aren't doing any labor!! Checkmate scientists!!!"
In comparison from human pollution to car pollution, the logic he's trying to portray here is uncanny.
Oh god what
He just wants to help the cuts to the road tax, otherwise this guy pops up.

And he'll regret that.
When people say things like this, they're usually talking about electric cars. It's true that electric cars have a pollution all of their own: batteries, which are highly toxic to the environment when dumped. It's not so much that electric cars pollute more as they pollute differently.
But this crap about bikes? Man cyclists piss me off while I drive sometimes, but there is no chance they cause more pollution than someone driving a car.

Fun fact, when the automobile was still a fairly new invention, it was considered good for the environment.
The only other alternatives at the time were horses, and they shat everywhere.
why give him attention in the first place? he doesnt deserve it
