I have dreamed about going to Sweden, I always wanted to live there. I love the landscape and the people. Is there anything I need to know about Sweden before visiting?
Cheap furniture and awesome meatballs.
Anything you need to know before visiting? Know the basics of the language!

Sweden is my double backup plan.
If for whatever reason the US gets too far behind in the world, my plan is Canada.
Then Sweden if Canada goes under. Sweden seems to be pretty much the most progressive and awesome nation, politically, out there. Only problem seems to be the multicultural issues, if my understanding is correct.
What about switzerland? I would love to hear a Switzerland vs Sweden economic and social lifestyle comparison.
Watch out for the Swedish drop bears. Vicious little creatures, they are.

Look behind the bearded hipster indie game developer.
"Hur hittar jag till Systembolaget?" is a quite useful phrase...

This is my word for word my plan as well.
what i hear a lot about scandinavian countries in general, besides being cold as shit is that their language is random as fuck. There are rules, but every rule has so many exceptions it's ridiculous, German and Dutch are also good examples of this.
Swedish is't too hard to learn, compared to some of the other European languages.
I found it easier to learn than Spanish, even though Spanish is supposed to be one of the easiest languages to learn, just because there wasn't as many grammatical rules, and tenses to worry about. I still don't speak it fluently, but I can speak it well enough to get by, and I still have almost a year before I go there. (study abroad)
Also, to the OP, you might get better answers in this thread.

Go to Norway instead, fight trolls on Fjords.
Come to finland, the language will make your anglo brain explode because it is so fundamentally different from anything you have probably ever heard.
Sweden is very open towards other people. The only hard bit is to get to know the language. We have free education and healthcare here by the way. If you're just visiting for the love of god don't go to southern Sweden, go to Stockholm or some place. Southern Sweden is a immigrant shithole. If you plan on staying here stay in the middle-south because that's the most densely populated area.

Sweden has trolls too, they just have desk jobs
Aren't a lot of Swedes reasonable English speakers?
That would make things pretty easy
Yes, Swedish is the only non-English speaking country where more then 90% of it's population can speak fluent English.
There are so many cool places in europe

I don't think that sounds so accurate, but most people in Sweden knows english fluently.
Well, Sweden is pretty awesome, but it depends on where you live. I live in Grums, and it's pretty boring there. Like really, not a single store that sells electronics or games. Luckily enough Karlstad isn't too far away.
I would suggest living in Göteborg or Stockholm, they're the two biggest citys.
I thought for a while that this would be a serious thread. :v:
Sweden is really boring and expensive.
Go to Norway or Iceland instead
oh yeah don't go to malmö
AWFUL
Terrible sounding language
Lots of homophobes
It's cold and rainy.
Summer fucking sucks.
"Hur hittar jag till Systembolaget?" is a quite useful phrase...
"Vem fan snodde min öl? Var det du din kärring?" Works everytime at fancy diners and social gatherings.
As said previously, Norway is a much better bet. We got everything Sweden got, in addition to a lot more
Go to Norway or Iceland instead

Malmö is pretty on actually. OP should just stay out of areas like Rosengård. It's almost like the freetown Christiania in Denmark.
Come to Norway instead! It's like Sweden just slightly better.
Yes, Swedish is the only non-English speaking country where more then 90% of it's population can speak fluent English.
Actually, 91% of the population in Norway speak English :v:
