Hey guys this is my first post in forever. I just got off my ass and bought "With Oden on Our Side" by Amon Amarth. I knew about them for a while and heard the praise so I took a dive and got it. Have to say I'm enjoying it. Wondering if I should buy the new album or not. What do you guys think? Post suggestions, comments or recommend me some more metal!!!
Twilight of the thunder god, and the new album are not as good as the old.

See I looked at reviews for the new album and slot of people said it was good, just not as good as the others. Worth the iTunes investment?
Why don't you just listen to the songs on Youtube or Grooveshark and then decide if it's worth it? I personally like it.
Amazing band. I recently bought Twilight Of The Thunder God, loved it. Edit: Even the cashier at the market where I bought it said "Good stuff" while he put it through the beepy thing.
I got Twilight of The Thunder God and Surtur Rising! Well to me, it's totally worth it and love both of them..TOTTG has more melodic hooks that sounds "Viking"-like. TOTTG > Surtur Rising though. If it means so much to you, why don't you try searching on youtube and see if you like it before you buy it?

Don't bother looking at reviews. I've seen it time and time again, where two reviews completely contradict each other. After a while you learn that reviews are worthless. Just listen to the albums on your own, via YouTube, or Grooveshark, or the bands' myspace pages, or some other medium, and make your own call.
I'm not "New" to metal, I was just putting off listening to these guys. Plus I did some listening and liked what I heard so I thought I'd put some extra post counts for me and discuss it with you guys. Alsoidid get the new one and I love it. So far no regrets.

I read a review about Devin Townsend's Ziltoid The Omniscient album which just got stuck into it and called it one of the worst albums of all time. I decided to listen to it and now Devin Townsend is one of my favourite musicians. Reviews are worth shit.
Really going to say this, Is better than this? Or this? I mean it's good, but it's not as good as their old stuff.
Yes I am, because it's my fucking opinion.

In my opinion, the latter two songs are fairly unimaginative. The riffs are simple and don't have that "Viking" feel that the later albums do. Out of those three songs, I would pick the song from Surtur Rising over the other two easily. :buddy:
