• I woke up last night at 3AM in a state of fear and bemusement at the most terrifying noise

Hello facepunch. I'm currently staying in close proximity to my University, which is at Portsmouth, England. This is a pretty big city. Last night I went to bed as usual at 23:30-00:00 or so and slept well for approximately 3 hours. When I woke at 3:00 it was in a frenzy of fear, confusion and suspicion that the zombie apocalypse had finally come. I sat there, afraid to move (I'm staying in a pretty old 4 story house so it's pretty creepy sometimes) listening to these pain filled cries of what sounded like a monkey trying to sing death metal. After 10 minutes of confusion and increased blood pressure, listening to the noises and preparing myself mentally to kick some zombie ass or get the fuck out of there, my conscious mind finally woke up properly and I recognised the noise, as when not at University I live very close to woodland and farms. Yes, would you believe it? [sp]It was foxes. They are common in urban areas as far as I know. They were probably looking around for bits to eat when there was some kind of territorial conflict perhaps.[/sp] So there's my story. Now if you ever hear that sound too you can identify it and not shit your pants.
Holy shit, that sounds creepy as fuck
Reminds me of when I woke up to something like a C130 passing over my house D:
Holy shit, that sounds creepy as fuck
I know right, imagine waking up to that shit at 3AM in the pitch black.
Same goes for mating cats. Fuckers are loud.
Creepy
Wow, I didn't know foxes made such noise. Quite unpleasant to hear.
I remember hearing that out my window once. Scared the shit out of me too.
The fuck? Creepy as.
ITT: Post your story's about scary noise's that turn out to be a tv or something I was takeing a nap and i hear A POP POP POP BOOM was thinking a gun fight had started out my window - turns out it was a bad muffler
Where I live I have cats and foxes constantly doing loud shit (fucking and fighting) so I eventually got used to that noise.
Who does not know that foxes make this noise? Happens all the time...
As it happens, not every single person lives near foxes.
We have foxes where I live. It's a fairly urban area on the edge of the deep countryside, so they like it here. This exact noise terrified me when I first heard it 6 years ago after moving here, but now if I do hear it, although it's creepy, it doesn't scare me anymore. I thought it was someone being raped outside D:
Australian Brush Tail Possums make the fucking creepiest noise. It's like this rasping growl thing that sounds almost like a really sinister laugh. I couldn't find an example on Youtube, but they sit in the Walnut tree in my back yard and growl very late at night. That plus the scratching of mice in the roof and walls makes for a very creepy late night experience.
I live near foxes, but never heard a noise like that before. Thanks for the heads up.
Same goes for mating cats. Fuckers are loud.
Stop mating with them then.
Avatar fits
Badgers make the worst noise when they're fighting.
Would have been shit scary since you didn't know what it was. Your perception goes to crap when you've just woken up. Jumped at the video.
:wtc:
man foxes fucking piss me off, when i was younger i used to hear them like 6m away from my window screaming and shit but when i looked out all i saw was darkness. I once even thought someone was being raped because of them.
That kind of scared the crap out of me.
I woke up thinking the zombie apocolypse had come too, for some reason. :S
Haha I saw a big ass fox in Wolverhampton city centre last night when I was driving back to my student residence
It's pretty bad, but the sounds bush-tailed possums make when they fight over territory is terrible. imagine the sound someone makes when they are hocking up a loogie, to they rythem of a steam train. (HR HR HRHRHRHRHRHR.... HR HR HR HRHRHRHRR!!) when i first moved to my house i was scared shitless. speaking of foxes, i remember when a really big one died under the prep and year one classrooms in my primary school. the stench was so bad they had to put the little kids in other classrooms for a fortnight untill some cleanup guy was hired to do it. ITT: this thread is now about facepunche's wildife encounters
D'aww, fox.
ITT: this thread is now about facepunche's wildife encounters
One time i walked into tall grass and wild pokemon attacked me
When I was camping I was trudging back from the toilet cubicle and heard a fox or some shit that sounds like that really close to me. I had to proceed back to the toilet afterward.
I woke up today and watched my TV, then i put my head back down. Then I remembered I don't have a TV in my room anymore. Turns out, I half-awake dreamt that I was watching a show I created in my head.
