Mike seems kind of dazed in this video. Has the mediocrity of hollywood finally caught up to him.

I think it's just the alcohol
This is one of these movies that made me leave the cinema confused and angry.
On the one hand everyting looked fucking great, I liked the cg, the effects, everything.
On the other hand, it was so fucking boring, predictable and nonsensical at times, plus [sp]the xenomorph was so tacked on and rushed for the last 20 minutes that they might as well have called this film "The xenomorph appeared on screen and I clapped!!: Covenant"[/sp]
I liked it :(
I was bored past the half-way mark and as they say, it just seemed like they misplaced a lot of ideas or didn't fully realize the interesting elements.
It's a lot worse if you were expecting any decent answers to the questions posed in Prometheus.
Haven't seen this review yet but Double Toasted said it really helps to watch the shorts they made for this movie. It gives exposition and you get to see the characters behave like family.
they also said this movie is really fucking retarded but extremely well made. They were pretty conflicted over the reviews but none of them thought it was a bad film, just a film with lots of bad parts.
On doing some more research, apparently this doesn't even answer the questions from Prometheus or explain what happens after the prologue when David wipes out the engineers
jays right with the end Alien part. it just had no tension, no feeling whatsoever. it was just like ok this is happening i guess. nobody even seemed afraid of the alien?? there was no hesitation, i almost felt they were like 'ok lets go beat the shit out of this alien'
Yeah, and it seems like there was a lot cut out from the movie concerning the final scenes with Ali En.

The CG wasn't really great. The back"horns" of the alien were clipping through the floor in one scene.

Me too. I really like the direction they are going with these movies. There were some idiotic moments by the characters and I think many scenes got cut due to pacing which lead to some scenes feeling rushed but other than that I enjoyed it.
the original alien was good because ridley scott didn't write it and james cameron made the franchise mainstream by being the lead writer for aliens.
the alien prequel franchise will never be good if fox keeps letting ridley scott write his trash.
Ridley isn't writing per se, but agreed, he does have too much control over the story's direction
I thought that the engineers were really interesting but they keep trying to shoehorn in xenomorphs. I appreciate Prometheus as a sci-fi film that tried to be something new but it fell short in a lot of areas and I'm bummed that Covenant doesn't answer the questions posed by Prometheus.
The Prologue is super interesting because a shitload of them are crowding around the landing site to see why an ancient spaceship came back

Covenant does answer some questions though. Originally Scott even planned to strive even further away from Alien with the sequel to Prometheus and focusing almost entirely on the Engineers. Since Prometheus wasn't received very well he put the Alien a lot earlier in as we've seen in Covenant. The Xenomorph was mean't to be shown in the third prequel movie.
