Hey! I’m Kakburken and I shamelessly borrowed this and edited/added/changed information Originally it was VideoWarrior’s post. FIRST OFF LETS GET YOU ACQUAINTED! What's an E-Cig?: "Electronic cigarette. An electronic cigarette (e-cig or e-cigarette), personal vaporizer (PV) or electronic nicotine delivery system (ENDS) is a battery-powered vaporizer which simulates tobacco smoking by producing an aerosol commonly, although incorrectly, called "vapor" that resembles smoke." -Wikipedia (Totally legit resource by the way!) What's "Juice"?: "E-liquids [Frequently called Juice] usually contain a mixture of propylene glycol, vegetable glycerin, nicotine, and flavorings, while others release a flavored vapor without nicotine." -Wikipedia (again) What is propylene glycol/vegetable glycerin?: Propylene Glycol is a clear, colorless, tasteless chemical base with thin syrup like consistency at room temperature. It is frequently found in many medical inhalers and is used as a carrier. Vegetable Glycerin is a clear, colorless, slightly-sweet tasting chemical base with thick syrup like consistency with a thickness higher than that of Propylene Glycol. It's frequently used in artificial sugar, various fruity soaps, deodorant, candy, and is used to coat pills to make them easier to swallow. TL;DR: Vegetable Glycerin is thicker, sweeter, and safer but will not “wick” as well as propylene glycol, thus causing the wick to burn up faster. What is Nicotine?: You probably shouldn't be reading this unless you know what it is. How does the "Juice" become vapor?: Propylene Glycol and Vegetable Glycerin both have low transition points, meaning they can vaporize at a lower temperature than water (Roughly 82C) allowing for near instant vaporization. Don't worry your little noggins, the vapor is cool by the time it reaches your mouth so no worries about scalding yourself with steam! But vaping too often will cause the chamber temperature to increase! ================================================== =========================== WOW, THAT WAS A PAIN! Seriously, SHOP AROUND! There is a huge market for E-Liquid online so you won't have ANY trouble finding one that fits your tastes. However a word of wisdom: Don't buy Ebay E-Liquid, often times the stuff is complete garbage or knock offs of better brands. Buying liquid from untrusted sellers is a horrible idea even if it is cheap, who knows what they put in there? Also if anyone says they put their blood, sweat, and tears into making their E-Liquid back away slowly and notify the nearest psych-ward and tell them the Jiggler escaped. OK, So you've got your starter kit and your selection of juice! What now? Right. This section right here is for more advanced users. What you will need: Ohm Meter with a 510 connection Drillbits of various small sizes (good items to start off with) Kanthal A1 wire. Wicking materials (such as organic cotton, or cellucotton. Tampons works in dire situations too.) Basic tools such as: Small screwdrivers, wire cutter of a reasonable size (nail clippers work fine too), pliers, pincette made from metal (or ceramic is fine too). PATIENCE I cannot stress this enough. You will NOT become a pro at this overnight. Basic Knowledge of Ohms Law A Dripper or a RTA RTA:Rebuildable Tank Atomizer This is a tank, such as the kanger tank, or similar, that the coil can be replaced without having to purchase a new coil. You make them using Kanthal A1 wire, and “wicking” it with Cotton or Celucotton. You then fill up a “tank” section, and with the help of a vacuum, it doesn’t leak juice everywhere. Here is a Kayfun RTA: [img_thumb]http://metrovape.com/images/kayfun_2.jpg[/img_thumb] Dripper This is whats easier to build on for people new to rebuildables Same as a tank, without an actual tank. It’s usually a metal enclosure, with one or several coils inside, threaded with wicking material. Since it has no reservoir, you must drip liquid onto it every once in a while, to keep you from getting DREADED DRYHITS . Hence the name, dripper. Zenith Dripper: [img_thumb]http://images.intaste.de/product_images/info_images/2365_2.jpg[/img_thumb] MODS: Now when you feel like you have it all, you also need a “mod”! A mod is either a regulated variable voltage device (VV device) or Variable Wattage (VW device), or an unregulated device (aka an overpriced battery tube, we will get to this later) Regulated devices There is a horde of devices on the market. The most common ones ranging from 3-6 volt, alternatively 5-15 watt. The issue with most regulated devices is that it cannot go under a certain Ohm without destroying the chip, unless it has a high end chip installed, such as a DNA30 chip or an OKR chip. Always, ALWAYS check with the technical standards of your specific mod how low you can go without destroying your chip. Unregulated devices (battery tubes) These bad boys draw power straight from the battery, no messing about with voltages or wattages. Since there is no chip installed, this means they can use as much power as your battery can allow without shorting. THIS IS IMPORTANT: NEVER GO TOO LOW WITH THE OHM OF YOUR COIL, AS IT IS YOUR COIL THAT IS STOPPING THE BATTERY FROM SHORTING Always check your Ohms, and know how much your battery can handle. Most users will never go under 0.2ohm with a device, as many batteries cannot handle this. Batteries Power to the people Usually I would recommend you get yourself the VTC4 or VTC5 Sony batteries, as they can handle low resistance quite well. There is a few batteries out there on the market, but I don’t bother too much about it, considering the Sony batteries handles their job rather well. If someone REALLY WANTS I could add more information. Coiling and wicking: So now when you've got yourself a bad boy setup, how do you coil it? There is several ways to coil something. The tutorial I myself used to get started is this one from http://www.thesteamco.com/blogs/vaping-tutorials/11967725-what-you-need-to-know-before-you-build-your-first-e-cig-coil It's probably one of the easiest tutorials to understand, and its a good way to get started. There is several different kinds of coils. Twisted, tiger, Magic Mundy, parallels, stovetops, inceptions. You name it. CLOUDCHASING So you don't care about the nicotine, you don't mind what flavour it is, as long as you get big clouds? The most common setup for cloudchasers is a mechanical mod with a dripper, and AIRFLOW. Typically for cloudchasing, one uses a larger Gauge of wire, such as 20 or 22 gauge. The larger the gauge, the more electricity flows through, the lower the ohm. But this also means you can make longer coils, and they will be thicker. As more of the coil touches the wicking material/juice, the more of it evaporates. Airflow. The faster you get that vapor off the coils, the faster it can create more. and more. and more. Here is a video CLONES So, we don't want to spend $150 on a battery tube, right? The answer? CLONES There is an overflow of clones on the market, chinese factories producing left and right. The most common place for clones is fasttech. Always check reviews/discussions on fasttech, to see if the quality is acutally half-decent. It SUCKS having a mod with bad threads. Recently there also been an increase of regulated devices being cloned, but the safety of these are arguable, as V1 versions of any chip are always a bit wonky. THERE IS LOADS MORE TO LEARN, LOOK AROUND THE ECIG SUB-REDDIT, Ecigaretteforum, or any local vendors I will be adding more to the OP (including pictures), and feel free to submit more vendors (US and EU) and drop a little note of why you recommend them, and I will add them to the list.
A friend of mine would bring one of these to school everyday along with some home made hash oil.
A friend of mine would bring one of these to school everyday along with some home made hash oil.
This is not their intended use, and I cannot condone use of any of these devices for that purpose. I will edit the OP tomorrow, adding information about coilbuilding, cloudchasing, and some general know-how. Also will add more vendors.
what's the difference between these big vapes and the small cigarette shaped ones? you seem to know a lot about these and I've been meaning to get one
Isn't there already a vape thread in durgz discussion
I found this new ejuice called "Trench Warfare" from WW1 Vapes. I think it's mustard flavored? It's great on my new all lead mod with a wickless/coilless/attyless build that I'm trying out (I drip it right onto an 56650 battery I sawed in half). There's literally no voltage drop it's great. Has anyone else tried this juice? The throat hit is superb but I can't stop tearing up. It's almost as bad as that mace flavored ejuice I tried last week. I've resorted to wearing a gas mask while vaping. It makes it really hard to eat and vape at public restaurants. Any advice?
what's the difference between these big vapes and the small cigarette shaped ones? you seem to know a lot about these and I've been meaning to get one
iirc the big vapes usually are for dry plant material or hash oil but don't quote me on that
no, there is no difference, one just has more power because it's bigger.
i'm thinking of something like the volcano which is what i think egevened was talking about
that aint an e-cig and we in the e-cig thread bruh
yeah i know, just answering his question how i thought he asked it
Why did you just cross post this thread and it's OP when the original thread is still functional and active? http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1400800 It just seems so pointless to have two threads that cover the same thing, even with an altered OP.
Someone recommend me a mechanical mod (Everything from the dripper to the battery). Im not new to ecigs but I just cant decide...
I bought myself one with two fluids that taste like mint and berries. It is actually pretty decent because I like to smoke hookahs, not really cigarettes. It kind of gives that hookah vibe without all the preparation. That said, my cigarette is not of high quality and the fluid actually gets out at times on my lips which is horrible. Thinking about getting a new one.
I spoke to videowarrior and he had no intention to update the old thread, and i felt like it was lacking a lot of information. I asked him if i could repost, doublechecked with gurant, and all was well. I felt like drugs discussion was the wrong place for this thread, aswell.
what's the difference between these big vapes and the small cigarette shaped ones? you seem to know a lot about these and I've been meaning to get one
These larger vapes have more function to them. The coils are different, and they don't use polymer filling. its also nicer to acutally have a flavoured one. Cigalikes don't output enough power for it to make that great.

I've got an ecig for work to stop me from smoking cigarettes. It's nothing fancy, does the job. I've tried a few flavours but standard tobacco is the only one I like really
I've got an ecig for work to stop me from smoking cigarettes. It's nothing fancy, does the job. I prefer the taste of contemporary cigarettes. E-cigarettes leave a terrible after taste.
what's the difference between these big vapes and the small cigarette shaped ones? you seem to know a lot about these and I've been meaning to get one
Assuming you mean the difference between larger and smaller e-cigarettes, not e-cigs and vapourisers intended for "tobacco": Small ones often have shorter battery charges, produce less vapour and don't have as many replaceable parts (hence they're often called "disposable"). Because they tend to be cheaper they're usually recommended only for trying out whether you like the taste and feel of an e-cigarette. In the long run it's better to get the bigger ones.
I prefer the taste of contemporary cigarettes. E-cigarettes leave a terrible after taste.
As someone who's been smoking roll ups for ~6 years I can tell you ecigs leave next to no after taste
As someone who's been smoking roll ups for ~6 years I can tell you ecigs leave next to no after taste
This, really. I've tasted a few flavours that actually make my mouth water.
cheap shitty ones leave after tastes, most likely because of their shitty setups. I've bought one before and cracked it open only to find that inside the cartomizer, the material was already burnt. It was used twice.
i don't see why you couldn't blow clouds and your friends? if those are two things you're into, i mean.
Why was the OP spammed with dumbs? A hobby is a hobby, at least he put effort into the thread.
me and my vape crew are gunna bring this place to it's knees... blue nemesis clone X blue TOBH clone
Why was the OP spammed with dumbs? A hobby is a hobby, at least he put effort into the thread.
because it's literally a remake of a still active thread with the op completely copy and pasted from that thread: http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1400800
Right. Completely copy pasted. I haven't added a single significant thing.
You later did, but still this thread is largely redundant and far less active than the original. Not to mention the original thread houses various people who are very much into it and can answer any question. You merely just made it slightly easier by having that info in the OP. I post in both of these threads now, but if i had a question, my best bet would be to ask in the original thread, not here.
If you guys see Throttle Vapor being sold in a store near you, give it a whirl. It's pretty expensive but tastes amazing

What's the point of smoking cigarettes when you are aware of health hazards?
