Russian pranksters Vovan and Lexus played a hoax on Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. In a prank phone call to the Turkish president, the two introduced themselves as Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and Prime Minister Arseny Yatsenyuk. Erdogan called the President of Ukraine his "dear friend." During the conversation, the sides discussed the intention to build a dialogue between the two countries that "suffered from Russian sanctions. The pranksters also offered Poroshenko to coordinate their actions against Moscow. The Turkish president welcomed the idea to cooperate against Russia. Vovan and Lexus uploaded the announcement of the conversation on their official channel. In the past, the two Russians had fooled Elton John, Mikhail Saakashvili, Vitali Klitschko, Igor Kolomoisky and others.
The video with the part of the prank call (in Russian/Turkish): via pravda
God, youtube's translator subtitles are horrid, I can't understand anything they're trying to say. Is there a written piece we can read?
Is there a written piece we can read?
I don't think so but here is a quote from youtube comments:
Briefly speaking, they have talked about: 1) Coordination against sanctions imposed by Russia. (Erdogan supports) 2) How soon will Turkey and Arab allies intervene Syria. (Erdogan: "Everything is under control, we will inform you when something happens") 3) Will Erdogan apologise for shooting down Russian plane (Erdogan's reply left untranslated, since the video title claims it is only an announcement of the full prank)•
Honestly, they shouldn't've revealed this straight away; let Erdogan actually try and have the Ukranians be really weirded out first
It sounds stupid, but I wonder if surveillance institutions could garner any personal information by simply prank calling politicians and whatnot. Would make for a unique way of gathering insider information :v:
Actually this is done by social engineers often, it's called "framing". You pretend to be something you aren't, equipped by so much information that victims believes you truly.
