I figured since I'm at home sick with nothing to do I'd get around to reviewing this thing. CYMA RPK First Impressions The box is just a plain cardboard box with a sticker with a picture of the gun and some other shit. When I first pulled it out of the box I was surprised at how light it was for its size. It weights about 8 or 9 pounds. In the box you get a the gun, an 800 round hi cap magazine, custom battery, chinashit charger and BB's and a cleaning rod. Externals The externals of this gun are very nice. I took a magnet to the gun to find out what is steel and what is not, it turns out the lower receiver, dust cover, trigger guard, magazine release, gas tube, bipod and the flash hider are steel. The scope mount, outer barrel, front sight, real sight block are some unknown metal. The wood on the gun is your standard plywood and the finish is okay, not as yellow as the ASGI picture. The pistol grip has a very nice rugged feel. My one major complaint with the externals is that the rear sight is extremely weak, like I broke it off in the first 3 minutes of taking out of the box, but JBwelding it back on should fix the problem. Internals The gun is a VFC or G&G or ICS or something clone so the internals are very nice. I haven't had a chance to use this a game yet so I'm just going off second hand experience. I did get to dry fire it a little bit and on the 9.6v battery provided it shot around ~19BPS. The bolt is very satisfying to rack, just as satisfying as an M14. The gun also has a very realistic takedown just like the real thing. This section will be updated when I can field the gun, chrono it etc. Pictures.
It weights about 8 or 9 pounds.
wow that's light as fuck now i'm happy that i got a full-size MG
Here's what I'm starting to hate: >Get gun yesterday >Plink for a bit >make review about it being the bes gun ever [editline]1st December 2011[/editline] Also, the gun is a G&G or ICS clone I believe, but not a VFC
When did I ever say it was the best gun ever?
this gun isn't even a clone a correct rpk74 with full bolt carrier has neva been dun b4
When did I ever say it was the best gun ever?
You didn't, you are reviewing a gun you just got though.
perhaps it was a first impression review and he is going to update his experiences with it as time passes
perhaps it was a first impression review and he is going to update his experiences with it as time passes
I don't exactly understand first impressions reviews, if I wanted to know what it looks like and is made of I could Google it.
maybe because he was at home sick with nothing to do????
i was actually just going to say what fpkawaii did i'd much rather you guys go out and field-test these before you do a review i mean shit, i hardly would buy a gun because it looks purdy and performs well at the chrono, needs to be able to perform well on the field, and be able to withstand some punishment
maybe its because he was sick and had nothing else to do and its not a professional review but what would i know im scottish
maybe its because he was sick and had nothing else to do and its not a professional review but what would i know im scottish
So are you legitimately defending him or are you just fighting because I'm Kawaii?
I think I will start reviewing things while they're in the mail. I'll just take lots of pictures off the website, and pictures of blank spots where I plan to put it. On a serious note, he was obviously just excited that he got a new gun and wanted to express it. I do support more filled up reviews in the future though.
Now, I do like the idea of doing first impressions on gear, to compare the color to other companies, how it looks and fits, how it feels, how it holds your shit, etc. as those are big factors in determining weather or not I want it, and is never put on a website.
I don't exactly understand first impressions reviews, if I wanted to know what it looks like and is made of I could Google it.
Personally I made reviews of my MP44 and M60 solely because I extensively researched both, and yet there were a number of things I didn't find in my research that were apparent upon receiving the gun- for example, I never saw it mentioned online that the M60's hop-up is accessible with a simple barrel disassembly, or that the fire rate adjuster was a potentiometer and not a MOSFET. There's a lot of useful information that can be gleaned from even a first impressions review. In any case, your logic seems suspect. It's not like you're going to know anything about long-term internal durability after one day of use, nor is shooting it over the course of a day going to tell you anything substantial about performance that testing won't. Not to mention if you don't want a review containing material you could find online, then I don't see how a review that incorporates gameplay performance is any better.

Dont worry guys I'm going out airsofting this weekend so I will tell you how its preforms etc also
This section will be updated when I can field the gun, chrono it etc.
I think you should stop being such a bitch. He clearly states he's making the review because he's bored. He never claims it's the best gun ever. He never speculated on anything. He reported on what was observable. It's a first impressions review. People are intelligent enough to realise the difference.
eh maybe it's just me but i don't see much value in a "first impressions" review i like the reviews where the person has actually had it for a while, and can testify to whether or not it'll last, and is competitive
I like first impression reviews, mainly because they show how the gun really looks like and not a stock image that has awkward angles and low visibility. [editline]1st December 2011[/editline] you should weather and darken that wood though, looks like cat piss

Does anyone have the link to that wood restaining thread, also I'm gonna let it weather its self
Does anyone have the link to that wood restaining thread, also I'm gonna let it weather its self
You don't really need a thread for it, you just strip the current stain off it (or not, up to you) , put new stain over it, let it sit for a few minutes, then wipe it off.
http://chairsoft-press.com/articles/guides/guinness-weathering-guide-part-i/ ?
Ahh yes thats the one, thanks!
http://chairsoft-press.com/articles/guides/guinness-weathering-guide-part-i/ ?
Although those are better than I could ever do, and look pretty great, they look a bit excessively weathered to me.
I'm not sure if you're trying to say you agree with me or not.
I'm saying one day of real gameplay in a real airsoft match won't tell you anything significant. The things that matter, like FPS, accuracy, rate of fire, and range, are better gleaned from controlled testing and measurement than anecdotes. Other factors like durability can't be assessed from just a game or two. So I don't see why you're so against reviews that haven't been 'battlefield tested', since actually using it a couple of times doesn't change that much, and I think it's unreasonable to expect months to years of ownership before a review can be written. Sure, Dark could stand to have a lot more detail in his review- like, what are the gearbox internals like, what AK parts is it compatible with, or general shooting performance; but the fact that he hasn't used it yet at a game doesn't make his input worthless, especially since he clearly states he'll be updating it as an ongoing process.
Still wondering were that guy got the airsoft M1Garand (at least I think its airsoft)
You're the one being a bitch, flipping such a massive shit over me saying I don't like first impression reviews.
I just take an instant dislike to people who only care if someone agrees with you or not. Yes. It's a short first impressions review. It does however contain useful information. He took a magnet to the metal to find out what is steel, which is much more accurate than what manufactures usually say. He also provided pictures from different angles in different lighting than the manufacturer provides.
For staining stocks, if you have access to acrylic paint, a full re-stain isn't necessary. Successive applications of watered-down dark brown or black paint can achieve a very realistic wood effect.
