so is this a remake of pitch black?
Wait a second. What is he doing? He's the ruler of the Necro's now. He has no reason to run or hide anymore.
Oh well, I hope it's the same style as Pitch Black. With the feeling of impending doom looming over him and who ever else may be there.
IMDB:
"Left for dead on a sun-scorched planet, Riddick finds himself up against an alien race of predators. Activating an emergency beacon alerts two ships: one carrying a new breed of mercenary, the other captained by a man from Riddick's past."
Vaako is in it. It's gonna be shit.
Also no Jack? What the fuck guys!
Considering I've seen Pitch Black, Dark Fury and The Chronicles of Riddick atleast 10 times each I'm fucking stoked.

Jack's dead.
Holy shit, it's been.. 10 years, as I recall, since The Chronicles of Riddick.
Those Aliens look like the things from Excape from Butcher's Bay. I'M HYPED
They don't need to remake Pitch Black, it was already awesome. I hope this has a similar style and mood to it though.

Nothing dies if it's a Necro.
I kinda enjoyed the Riddick movies, though to be fair I only watched Pitch Black and Chronicles; never watched Dark Fury. My assumption is that on his pilgrimage to the gates of the Underverse, wherever that is, shit goes down and betrayal is likely involved, leading to him being stranded on the hostile planet and the bounty hunters hunting him down.
I've been waiting for so long. Hopefully this has more to do with pitch black than chronicles.

Wait, you're saying there's three Riddick movies? I watched Pitch Black and CoR, should I watch the third one?
Apparently Dark Fury was a direct-to-DVD animated feature, so it makes sense that not everyone knows about it.

Oh
I'm really biased against direct-to-dvd movies, so
Time to rewatch all the movies again... and maybe play the games again.
I've seen so many of his movies, and the writing may be bad, but he always seems badass. Even the daycare movie :v:
all dark fury is is a filler on what happened to riddick, jack, and imam after pitch black and how they ended up where they are in chronicles of riddick.
[editline]23rd March 2013[/editline]
also apparently riddick's plot is that riddick has a bounty set on him and mercs are hunting him down.

It was actually fairly decent if I recall.
I loved Pitch Black, it was just a good movie. But Chronicles was more about vin diesel being badass than the character riddick. Pitch black was great because you never knew if riddick was and antisocial hero or a pathological villain. In everything else -riddick they tried to keep up this vibe by baking riddick badass-bad but still social and protective towards certain key characters and everyone he fought a baby killing prick. It's kinda hard to justify such a character saving the day, if he is characterized as beyond all moral and conscience. He'd be better off being thrown into situations where the people around him rely on his help and struggle to the end to win over his support while being endangered by his unpredictable personality. AKA Riddick is not as interesting as the people having to put up with him and the resulting situations. Really, he works best if he's just out for bloodshed, vengeance and saving his own skin with other people trying to benefit from him. That's why Escape from butcher Bay worked so well, it used exactly that formula. Riddick wants to escape prison, wardens, gangs and whatnot try to get in his way. Some asshole with a grudge against riddick takes the opportunity to tag along for his own benefit and they form a fragile, short-lived and mostly just pretend-alliance that relults in unpredictable outcome. I hope someone realizes this before writing another installment of the series
Has potential indeed.
Any reason why it's going to be R-rated?
I love Vin Diesel's voice.
I really hope it isn't just a remake of Pitch Black, it was good enough it didn't need a remake. Maybe some kind of return to the planet, although that wouldn't make very much sense.
Can anyone fill me in on the story of all Riddick movies, it's been such a while since I've watched them.

pitch black: [sp]riddick is being transported on a transport ship along with a few other passengers and they get stranded on a desolate planet when their ship gets struck by a comet/meteor. blah blah blah riddick goes into hunter mode, passengers get picked off one by one, riddick, jack, and imam get out alive[/sp]
dark fury: [sp]riddick, jack, and imam are traveling and they get caught up in a mercenary ship. said mercenaries begin to hunt riddick down for the bounty on his head. the three escape and riddick leaves jack and imam on new mecca.[/sp]
chronicles: [sp]5 years after pitch black, riddick is still being pursued by bounty hunters and finds information on where the bounty originated from. he travels to helion prime and meet imam there and learns about the necromongers. riddick gets caught by necromongers intentionally and is sent to crematoria and meets jack there. blah blah blah riddick escapes, riddick fights, riddick almost burns to a crisp, and riddick fights again. now he's the lord marshal of the necromongers.[/sp]
I distinctly remember them saying this was supposed to ignore the Chronicles plot line. Karl being cast is worrying though.
I'm down for this.

Can you find a source? I need to refresh my memory of the Riddickverse soon and it'd be good to know.
my third favorite bald dude is back in gravely voice: the movie
I'm excited. I loved the Riddick movies so far.
I am very much looking forward to this if it really is more Pitch Black than Chronicles of Riddick.
