Just a heads up, we have a TB thread.
Ooops, didn't see it. :/ You may nuke this thread, mods.
I really hate that quirky shit. I once saw this thing that said "Let *me* Play: x game" seriously fuck off with that attitude, you sound dumb.

It isn't actually a let's play. It's a really short Wtf Is that's beating up on how shitty the game is. The title is just a joke.
The intro told me everything I need to know: 1.) EA game, so that alone tells me it's going to have a bunch of DLC later on. 2.) Criterion, so the racing might be fine 3.) Frostbyte 3 so my PC can't run it well

I just assumed it was some other lets player because I wasn't able to determine whether it was TB from just the thumbnail. So by just seeing the title I went into a small fit of rage. [editline]19th November 2013[/editline] I still hate that shit though.
I'm pretty sure the video is called what it is because it takes 5 minutes of various cutscenes, and tutorials before you actually get into the game, which is about half the video. And then there's the fact that making the game run at 60 frames per second instead of 30, which is what it's locked to by default, makes the game run twice as fast.
I would just like to point out that I'm someone that really can't stand TB for more than 2 minutes...I WATCHED THE WHOLE VIDEO. I am so proud of myself. What actually made me watch a whole TB video is because the game was actually so shit that his moaning about things were perfectly valid on this rare occasion, and how the game was actually mind blowing awful, I saw a decline in the quality of the NFS series after Most Wanted, where they practically just made newer version of Most Wanted with less of what you want and loads of what you don't want, like the tutorials, and super generic cut scenes. It just feels like EA want Need For Speed to die, like they purposely make it so shit so that nobody ever dares buy it. This is coming from someone that played Need For Speed since the age of around of 6, and I'm 20 now.
Most Wanted was the best one for me, imo. Carbon was, pun intended, a carbon copy of MW- wait no, it's at night and it has drifting, which apparently justifies making a whole new game. After that, what was it, Pro Street? I'll admit I liked the visual style, but not much else. It was so weird, I don't know why they thought it was a good idea. They literally took everything that made the series good and threw it away for weird dystopian punk-ish race events in the middle of nowhere. After that, there were plenty of forgettable ones, and I remember how each one of them had different gimmicks in an attempt to get people interested. They also gave the idea the developers had no clue what they were doing anymore. Undercover tried going back to street racing but it was boring as shit, Shift did a u-turn and was all about pro racing (and imo there was no point in playing it with so many better realistic racing games out there), Nitro was a cartoon styled game "aimed at casual players", etc etc. I've heard the latest ones were better, and boy I sure hope they are, because I've completely lost faith in this series.
super generic cut scenes.
Those generic generic cutscenes.

Carbon is as much of a MW clone as Underground 2 is a underground 1 clone. The only thing that really ties the two together is you drive cars in an arcadelike fashion, and do completely unrealistic cop chases. Seriously, I love em both, but you put MW and Carbon side by side and i'll always choose carbon, it's just straight up improvement.
WHY THE FUCK DON'T THEY JUST MAKE A NEED FOR SPEED UNDERGROUND 3 I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THAT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE TO THESE PEOPLE I don't mean to caps-lock spam, but I just don't understand how you could continue to fuck up so badly in video game that could be so mind mindbogglingly simple. Give me Need for Speed Underground with an updated engine, and more customization, and you will have ALL of my money. And the money of every kid who grew up playing Need for Speed Underground 1 & 2, or Most Wanted. And it's not like i'm saying that out of nostalgia (aka pick up the game, play it once, get satisfied, never pick it up again). Maybe they will learn after Rivals that this shit needs to stop and they need to go back to what the fans loved in the first place.

I just want a NFS 3/4 with better graphics that isn't flaming pile of shit like this one is without all this needless "I am the night" faff. Seriously, I nearly bust a gut laughing at all that shit. Hell, just bring back Porsche Unleashed, ffs - make it another legendary car marque, but for the love of god, please let it go back to its roots.
Break it down for me guys - exactly what do you want out of an NFS game.
Break it down for me guys - exactly what do you want out of an NFS game.
There's a faction of us that want strictly exotics with standard racing and Hot Pursuit, a la the very original Hot Pursuit and High Stakes. There's another group that would like FnF styled underground street racing. I think this should be its own IP, actually. Then there's another group that liked Shift and want to see more of that "serious pants" racing. This has already been treated as its own IP thing for a while, the NFS tag on that, I suspect, was just something done to make it sell better. And then, lastly, there's a very small group of people from the old days that want a new version of Porsche Unleashed, where you got to drive landmark and legendary cars from Porsche's history. They could even make it another marque, but it would have to be the same style of game. Yeah, that's about it, I think.

It was gimmicky, added almost nothing to gameplay, and the visuals barely improved. The story was bland as hell too, I'd rather go with MW's anyday. [editline]20th November 2013[/editline] If Carbon had come before Most Wanted I'd definitely have enjoyed it more, but it felt like the beginning of the series' decline; I remember thinking that even back in 2006.
I guess it would also be nice if they moved back to closed world racing with less plot. Porsche Unleashed and Hot Pursuit 2 are my favourites.
Holy shit, they didn't use delta time for frame rate independent speeds. That's like the first rule of a game :v:.

That's like the first rule of a game :v:.
For single player I'd actually prefer that to an extent only because if the game hiccups for a second I'm not suddenly slammed into a wall. Then again, the game shouldn't do that in the first place. I don't believe it that is so great
Break it down for me guys - exactly what do you want out of an NFS game.
A Lamborghini racing with a Ferrari in a sprint with maybe one or two cops. And alot of traffic to hit.
Wait, so if the game speeds up when the framerate goes up, does that mean you slow down when the FPS drops? I'm also wondering how the hell it works in online. In the video the AI cars seemed to be going normal speed, unless the starter cop car goes ludicrous speed and is capable of getting that far ahead, and things like the HUD and menus seem to run at normal speed. It'll be interesting to see what they do to fix it, if anything.
For those looking for a remake of the older NFS titles, there's this http://cryforspeed.com/en Although, it'll probably get shut down by EA as soon as it starts gaining traction.
He has some good points but i really don't like how he brags about his computer alot. Yes okay you have the best gaming pc money can buy, yes you have a 120hz monitor we know we know.
The game is still a lot of fun. I knew about the 30 FPS lock, but didn't think it'd bother me. Playing it though, the 30 FPS does bother me, but it's not the end of the world. And he quits before even getting to the actual game.

It takes nearly 12 minutes to go through unskippable tutorials explaining you how to press literally a single key at a clear prompt during a race, endless cutscenes that don't actually act as buffer to shorten/hide the game's loading time, and bad design before you actually reach a playable portion of the game.

And they're a one-time thing only that last maybe 15 minutes. [editline]20th November 2013[/editline] I feel like I'm the only person who was hyped for this game, and the only person who likes it.

GTA V, a game insanely more complex, starts by plopping you in a car and says OKAY START DRIVING GO.

You keep learning new shit until you reach the last mission. Then the game throws you in the big open world and you use all that shit you learned.
