"We Don't Spy on Americans, Just 'Anti Government' Americans"
Law enforcement intelligence-processing fusion centers have long come under attack for spying on Americans. The Arkansas director wanted to clarify the truth: centers only spies on some Americans – those who appear to be a threat to the government.
In trying to clear up the ‘misconceptions’ about the conduct of fusion centers, Arkansas State Fusion Center Director Richard Davis simply confirmed Americans’ fears: the center does in fact spy on Americans – but only on those who are suspected to be ‘anti-government’.
You'd best not say anything critical about the government.
Also this is RT, but its an Interview, so Richard Davis' words are what matter.

What defines an "anti government" American?
:tinfoil:

As long as you're not an Un-American American, you're safe.
At least the more cameras they have, the less time they will have to spend watching people through them.
In fact I think most footage from cameras are deleted most of the time anyways, there simply isn't enough storage space and resources for them all.
Another source please?
I would bet that communists/anarchists/socialists and fascists are still on the list of "0/10 would-spies". In fact, we know they are. There's strong evidence that the federal government is observing leftist organizations, especially after OWS. For instance, the FBI records on OWS observations, the grand jury show trial of 3 leftist activists out west, the setting up of the anarchists arrested for attempting to blow up a bridge (the FBI plants gave them the explosives and proposed the plans), and the raiding of leftist anti-war activist offices and homes in 2010.
I mean, it's more or less a fact that reds scare the feds.
Why won't the page load for me? :tinfoil:

Time to pull out those spray cans.
Yeah, that explanation doesn't fucking help. "Anti-government" can mean anything you people want it to mean, from racist militias to Occupy Wall Street, which may I remind you, was the victim of the most stunning government put-down of a protest movement in recent memory.
the system is fucking broken when officials can say shit like that and get away with it.

I remember that they've always done this. The government requested Walt Disney to remove a character that represented them because that character was portrayed as goofy. I've read it from a book surrounding the history of animation, but this was closest I could find to the event.

FBI - Precrime Division
The government shouldn't have to protect itself from its citizens. If it does, it's a dysfunctional government.
Unless they define 'anti-government' as 'actively trying to destabilize the government/kill government officials,' this goes against the first amendment in every way it possibly can. We're supposed to be able to talk shit about you and not fear repercussions.
Ever think that maybe the government deserves to be threatened by "anti-government Americans"??

my little ronnie: objectivism is magic
In the words of Thomas Jefferson, "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of anti-government Americans."
Something tells me you people don't have the slightest clue what a fusion center actually is. All its used for is analyzing criminal activity data gathered by local, state, and federal law enforcement.
The only difference between a fusion center and a normal police equivalent is that it combines data from all levels from law enforcement, and can then send reports to all levels of law enforcement.
And before someone asks, fusion centers don't have any assets of their own (none of this spy camera bullshit), they are nothing more than data analysis centers.
This article is bullshit and full of false inferences.

NBC 2012
In addition to the value of much of the fusion centers’ work, the Senate panel found evidence of what it called “troubling” reports by some centers that may have violated the civil liberties and privacy of U.S. citizens. The evidence cited in the report could fuel a continuing controversy over claims that the FBI and some local police departments, notably New York City’s, have spied on American Muslims without a justifiable law enforcement reason for doing so. Among the examples in the report:
•One fusion center drafted a report on a list of reading suggestions prepared by a Muslim community group, titled “Ten Book Recommendations for Every Muslim.” The report noted that four of the authors were listed in a terrorism database, but a Homeland Security reviewer in Washington chastised the fusion center, saying, “We cannot report on books and other writings” simply because the authors are in a terrorism database. “The writings themselves are protected by the First Amendment unless you can establish that something in the writing indicates planning or advocates violent or other criminal activity.”
•A fusion center in California prepared a report about a speaker at a Muslim center in Santa Cruz who was giving a daylong motivational talk—and a lecture on “positive parenting.” No link to terrorism was alleged.
•Another fusion center drafted a report on a U.S. citizen speaking at a local mosque that speculated that -- since the speaker had been listed in a terrorism data base — he may have been attempting “to conduct fundraising and recruiting” for a foreign terrorist group.
