Jordan confirmed on Wednesday that “The Jordanian King Abdullah II will participate personally on Thursday in conducting air strikes against the shelters of the terrorist ISIL organization to revenge the execution of the Jordanian pilot Maath al-Kassasba by the ISIL.” Media outlets reported the King Abdullah II as saying “The war against ISIL will not end and we will fight them in their shelters.”
http://www.iraqinews.com/baghdad-politics/urgent-king-of-jordan-to-participate-in-striking-isil/ http://beforeitsnews.com/alternative/2015/02/king-of-jordan-to-bomb-isis-in-syria-personally-3103164.html?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter HAIL TO THE KING, BABY
Get em
Then his plane gets shot down, and we'll see his execution posted by next week. [editline]00[/editline] Apparently this is being denied by Jordanian authorities.
Well I personally don't know how does a King feel but I think that If you were one and you heard that a terrorist organization tortured and killed a citizen of your kingdom you would feel like if they did it to someone pretty close to you. He's a badass mothterfucker and I respect him.
idk how I feel about this. On one hand, fuck the isis and they deserve anything that comes to them. On the other hand this seems like something straight out of an action movie. Idk if it's got all the facts.
wrong http://www.shorouknews.com/news/view.aspx?cdate=05022015&id=256ed362-6842-4c88-bf12-072c3c7b7275 google translate's a bit rusty, but something like "Jordan: There is no truth to the participation of the Jordanian monarch air sorties"
This is not true.
It's seriously like back to medieval times Burning people at stake, the nobility personally joining the fighting Pretty much only thing left now is launching blighted corpses into drinking water sources

But the king /could/ be personally taking part and they just don't want it to be publicly known. I like the story. It's a good story.
If the King does get involved, he should totally go out there in a full suit of ornate armour.
National leaders should participate in conflicts personally more frequently. (Though obviously this turned out to be false) Yes it seems medieval, but there is a lot to be gained by having leaders fight on the front line and experience what they are subjecting their own people to. Even ignoring the potential humanitarian benefit, it is a huge morale booster to your fighting force.

how brave of him to bomb insurgents high in the sky where they can't shoot him down give this man a medal for his commitment
I wonder what's gonna be inside tomorrow's dozen ISIS news threads
how brave of him to bomb insurgents high in the sky where they can't shoot him down give this man a medal for his commitment
Didn't stop Moaz al-Kasasbeh from being captured and burnt alive you dense fuck
He did a small Cameo in Star-Trek Voyager and apparently is a big nerd.
how brave of him to bomb insurgents high in the sky where they can't shoot him down give this man a medal for his commitment
"How brave of that soldier to shoot at the other soldier he should have stabbed him with a sword instead." "How brave of him to use a sword he should have beat him with his bare hands instead."
Didn't stop Moaz al-Kasasbeh from being captured and burnt alive you dense fuck
He's an advocate of censorship and deserves no praise for what is little more than a PR move
See, this guy actually does shit. Unlike the POTUS.
See, this guy actually does shit. Prince Harry piloted an Apache for a little while. If he wants in on that shit, I say go nuts.
So it's a bold-faced PR stunt that got announced and denied in the same breath. lel

There's a reason leading from the front rapidly fell out of fashion with the advent of the rifle.
thread theme
King Abdullah Forever! someone make a duke nukem 3d mod where you play as king abdullah ii and you kill isis motherfuckers. it'll make this come true in one way.

Ride in a tracked armored vehicle or simply operate from forward operating bases. You don't need to be getting actively shot at all day, but you also shouldn't be sitting in a suit and tie a long ways from actual combat. You have an obligation as a leader to at least understand the hell you are subjecting people to.

I'll leave that to the actual military, who knows how to fight a war. I don't hate Obama or most world leaders, but I wouldn't trust them to be personally leading an army.
Kings of old would ride into battle at the vanguard of their armies, facing as much danger or more than any of the men they asked to die for them. While that may not strictly hold true in this case, it's damn good to see a leader put himself on the line like that.

Not to mention, knights didn't work a vanguard, they would hit flanks or hunt down the routed enemy, it was hardly the most dangerous part of a medieval army.

He was a cool dude.
