'You're spending just 15 minutes a day on YouTube, and spending five hours a day watching TV,' YouTube head Salar Kamangar said in a post at the Google-owned video-sharing website. 'As the lines between online and offline continue to blur, we think that's going to change.' In addition to beefing up its online movie roster, YouTube was increasing support for 'partners' who create amateur clips that are attracting 'TV-sized' audiences at the website, according to Kamangar. Approximately two billion video views are logged daily at YouTube, which is available on 350 million devices, he noted. 'Whether it's short movie trailers, funny movie parodies or full-length blockbuster films, we encourage you to sit back and settle in to the YouTube movies experience,' Mr Kamangar said. Movies available for streaming as online rentals at YouTube had been mostly older titles but the Google-owned technology firm has been collaborating with Hollywood studios to find ways to make fresh films available. YouTube said that it is broadening its rental service at youtube.com/movies with new films from Sony Pictures, Warner Brothers, NBCUniversal, Lionsgate Films and 'many great independent studios.' New releases will cost US$3.99 (S$4.91) to rent while library titles will cost US$2.99, YouTube product marketing manager Camille Hearst said in a blog post. People will have 30 days to watch rentals, needing to finish a movie within 24 hours from when viewing is started. Mr Hearst promised some titles would be available for streaming the same day they are released on DVDs.
http://www.straitstimes.com/BreakingNews/TechandScience/Story/STIStory_666887.html Hmm well, hope they have a free Movies Monday promotion or something. This might work. Seeing how every other movie streaming service so far has failed utterly except netflix
The rentals before were all shitty movies that no one has ever heard of, but now there's a lot of new movies like Harry Potter and Inception. This might work out well for them.
http://www.youtube.com/movie/ghostbusters Ghostbusters is free. :D
http://www.youtube.com/movie/ghostbusters Ghostbusters is free. :D
The uploader has not made this video available in your country. Sorry about that. :(
Need some love for your brothers up north.
They had a Godzilla movie monday sorta thing. Watched em' all (of course)
Please just let Netflix do the movie streaming. Youtube you have a different purpose stop evolving into a piece of fuckery.
The uploader has not made this video available in your country. Sorry about that. :(
Fuck, Singapore too. [editline]10th May 2011[/editline] Hmm, will try using Hotspot Shield when I get home.
Please just let Netflix do the movie streaming. Youtube you have a different purpose stop evolving into a piece of fuckery.
Honestly, 8 times out of 10, I have to refresh the page/set the video back to the beginning to have it buffer.
I'd rather use netflix thanks.
Hypernova must be having an amazing Youtube experience.
Ugh, is there anything working for us in Canada? It's like everything is blocked :argh:
Do they have The Room?
Yeah, rent the movie, then there will be ads that show up between parts.
"You're spending just 15 minutes a day on YouTube, and spending five hours a day watching TV" I find it rare that I watch TV for one hour a day, let alone five.
Sweet. All the BTTF's are on there.
Holy shit free horror movies. :buddy:
Holy shit free horror movies. :buddy:
I hope Jaws is on there.
Watching Ghostbusters, I don't give a fuck.
Yeah, rent the movie, then there will be ads that show up between parts.
Just like the theater! (User was banned for this post ("Profile harassment/spamming." - Seiteki))
Most of the free movies are pretty unappealing.

The only way to make a good movie rental service is break every single fucking law ever made. There is no way to rent a movie and stream it home in Finland. There's a couple of ISPs that have their own services, but they all suck ass. (And so do the ISPs) There's a reason why piracy's blooming over here. They can't provide a better service than pirates can.
I like how youtube are developing.
I'm already missing blockbuster... So much childhood memories.
Wow, half of them are not available in my country..I'm in the UK. That is stupid. Not suprised though, things like this are never available for UK.
so that's why there's been "purchases" tab in "My videos" for a year or so. Looks like they have some good classics for free too: Jason and the Argonauts, To Kill a Mockingbird, Battleship Potemkin, Killers from Space...
There are a ton of cheesy looking horror films in the free section. Looks like summer just got a bit more fun.
Like the idea, althought they should make allot of those movies available in Europe.
