As a six-year-old, Sheru begged at Khandwa railway station for a living. One day, he got on a train to Burhanpur, accompanied by his elder brother. He overslept in the train, got separated from his brother, and found himself in Kolkata, where he went back to begging. But his life changed when he was rescued by an NGO, and subsequently adopted by a childless Australian couple.Twenty-four years later, Sheru, now Saroo Brierley, is back at Ganesh Talai slum in Khandwa, having managed to track his family after a relentless search on internet, armed only with an old photograph and faded memories of childhood. His family is still poor. “I was lucky to find my family,’’ says the 30-year-old, admitting there is a communication problem. “There is some Hindi in my head but I have to observe their facial expressions and hand movements to make complete sense of what they say.’’Having studied business and commerce at the University of Canberra, he now runs an industrial shop in Hobart, Tasmania.Saroo says his foster parents “were very supportive and encouraged me to find my real parents’’.“We tried to find him everywhere. All fortune-tellers claimed we would be reunited one day,’’ says his elder brother, Kallu. The brother, who accompanied Sheru on the train ride, was found dead on the railway tracks near Burhanpur.Saroo says he has no plans to return to his hometown, but hopes to visit his family frequently. He says he plans to make a movie on his past and present which “will have everything”.[/release]

How did that happen?
Died begging most likely.
Not really a boy then
How did that happen?
Maybe he was train surfing.
How did that happen?
Suicide most likely. Can't blame someone who spends there life begging just to survive.
This is one of my biggest fears, getting lost and not getting home.
Altough i dont think there is such a big chance of that happening where i live.
I hope google makes this into one of their ads, their ads are always heart warming and shit. Good that he's now home again.

Passage between cars on an outdated train is pretty tricky business when it is moving. His brother may have slipped down between the cars for all we know given the information in the article.
Lucky he finally found his way back home, foster homes really suck.
inb4 more lost children find their homes using Google Earth
This is really nice, I mean you can even upload a photo to find out where it was taken.

Yeah sure

The way I understand it he's happier with his foster parents than he would be if he still lived there.
His family is poor, he had to beg along with his brother and his brother eventually died. Now he has a business and commerce degree from the local university. I bet he wouldn't have had a business and commerce degree if he still lived in Kwandha.

A bollywood movie.
Where exactly does it say he used Google Earth?
How did that happen?
It's even more confusing because the article makes it seem like they interviewed him in the previous sentence.

Even the saucy parts.
