On April 29, 2010, activists Mitch Kahle and Kevin Hughes were assaulted by Ben Villaflor, the Senate Sergeant-At-Arms, and State Sheriff's Deputies, for objecting to unconstitutional Christian prayers used to begin each session of the Hawaii State Legislature. Hughes was injured in the attack and was taken to the hospital for x-rays and treatment. Kahle was arrested and prosecuted, but was ultimately vindicated when Judge Leslie Hayashi found Kahle "NOT GUILTY" and ruled that: "The Senate's [Christian] prayers violate the constitutional separation of church and state." More to come . . . :ohdear:
Hey, a non-southern state with christians making it look bad. Thanks Hawaii.
I thought Hawaii was the land of surfer dudes and fat ukulele players. I never expected this to happen there.
Good thing they got it all on video.
So he was beaten up for objecting to unconstitutional Christian prayers used to begin each session of the Hawaii State Legislature, what the fuck?
i love my island :allears:
Man, why do the cops never just say "no fuck you. He has every right to protest your bullshit"
They were attacked by the cops and a senator? Am I reading this right?
They were attacked by the cops and a senator? Am I reading this right?
Sadly enough its not the first time its happened either.
The end of the video is sickening, everyone's just piling on top of them.
Hey, a non-southern state with christians making it look bad. Thanks Hawaii.
Actually Hawaii is about as south as US can get

As much as I love watching activists get beaten down (and boy do I), this is fucked up. Although on this one website I get a good laugh when this officer pushed a Code Pink member to the ground. Sounded like when you accidentally step on a dogs tail or something.
Man, why do the cops never just say "no fuck you. He has every right to protest your bullshit"
Why I am trying very hard to become a cop, I want to protect the people and their rights, I don't give a fuck if somebody is expressing something that scares me or something that I don't agree with or approve, but these activists were defending the US constitution and showed us how morally corrupt governments can become. This shit sickens me to the core. [editline]6th December 2010[/editline] I really cannot express the amount of distrust I am feeling inside knowing people, like this, are running (ruining) my country.
Uphold the law and get beaten by police. FUCK THE POLICE.
i love my island :allears:
I wish Texas had bad ass Medal of Honor winning congressmen like Hawaii, but instead we have Joe Barton. He thinks that global warming is caused by wind farms slowing down the wind. :saddowns: and we also have John "None of your civil liberties matter much after you're dead" Cornyn.
Uphold the law and get beaten by police. FUCK THE POLICE.
Fuck fast food clerks for not making the food like it does in the ads. Fuck the movie theaters because the movie I went to see turned out to be shit. Fuck firemen for not saving my pet dog, I don't care if they saved my life. Fuck the police for keeping me safe at night. You forget that the police are human, and that some of them have radical ideas and ideologies, meaning that they will blindly defend what they hold close to them, in this case prayer of their religion. You cannot hold an entire organization accountable for a few indiscretions, it isn't right.

I'm surprised that this video doesn't surprise me.

Oh, and they aren't given guns, tasers, and the ability to use them on people with little to no risk of arrest.
Man, why do the cops never just say "no fuck you. He has every right to protest your bullshit"
because there jobs are more important then there honor
Fuck the police for keeping me safe at night.
The police don't keep me safe at night. My door lock, alarm system, and .38 magnum do. I'm not saying the police are useless, but I am saying that the police aren't just some omnipresent life-saving force. I hate the police for their willingness to uphold and enforce unconstitutional laws.
*Archipelago
He's talking about Oahu, the individual island you jive turkey! I've seen too many videos of photographers getting pushed around for legally taking pictures/video in public. This video is no exception.
I thought Hawaii was the land of surfer dudes and fat ukulele players. I never expected this to happen there.
Actually...this kinda shit happens down here all the time. The brilliant paradise that everyone see's is made-for-TV.
