Though Prime Minister Vladimir Putin started the second Chechen war in 1999, there is no resentment at all in the republic toward his political party, judging by the results of the State Duma vote in Chechnya. United Russia swept a whopping 99.48 percent of the vote in the republic, with the turnout standing at 99.51 percent, the Central Elections Commission said Monday. Both figures are the highest among all regions. They are also better than Chechnya's showing in the previous Duma elections in 2007, when it won 99.36 percent of the republic's vote with a turnout of 99.5 percent. The other North Caucasus republics followed suit, though they were no match for Ramzan Kadyrov's domain. United Russia's results in Dagestan, Ingushetia, Kabardino-Balkaria and Karachayevo-Cherkessia hovered between 90 and 91 percent of the vote, and the turnout between 85 and 91 percent. Chechen head Kadyrov, who assumed office in 2007 after his father Akhmad was killed in a bomb blast, is routinely accused by independent activists of abusing human rights and suppressing dissent in the republic. "It's a system based on authority, and authority can ensure the right results," political analyst Vyacheslav Nikonov said about Chechnya's voting. "I haven't heard about results like that since the Soviet times," he added by telephone Monday. Something smells of a rigged election. I don't care how good you are, you don't get 99.48 percent of your population to follow you. edit: I would like to thank all of the people who agree with me. Thank you; you 200+ people you!
You do if you're Putin.
Rigged by opposing party to make it appear to be rigged by Putin to get negative attention towards him (?)
Rigged.
congrats Putin!
Rigged harder than an S&M gimp
There's no fucking way...
Haha oh wow do they actually expect anyone to take this seriously

Haha, oh wow, that's hilarious.
With all we hear about opposition, such a high turnout in favour is suspicious.
HEY, 0.56% voted for the other parties, Putin didn't rig shit at all. :v:
Dear Mr. Putin, Fuck you. Love, All the people you screwed over
With all we hear about opposition, such a high turnout in favour is suspicious.
To be fair this is in Chechnya. Not the full votes of the country yet.
Does this mean nearly 100% of the population, or of registered voters. I wouldn't be surprised if it was the first, as Putin wanted everyone and their mother and their baby to vote for him.
chechnyans voting for united russia.... lol yeah that seems likely
Fucking rigged. Every russian I talked to hated United Russia and Putin, and they want us to believe 99% of the russian population voted for em? Oh wait these are not the results of Russia, but of Chechnya? Lol that's even more ridiculous
Wow, it was that rigged?
chechnyans voting for united russia.... lol yeah that seems likely
Someone on another forum described it as such: "To put it in perspective, it'd be something like Afghanistan being made the 51st US State and having Afghanis turn out to vote in record numbers for Warlord George Bush."
What was that one image of him on a yacht that we said he looked like a 007 Villain? What if his plan is to take over Russia to gain access to their secrets, then hold the world at ransom with the threat of nuclear war? :tinfoil:
Wow. Both the amount of votes they got and the turnout are completely ridiculous. There is no way these results were not fabricated.
I don't care how popular you are, you will NEVER have results like this. Definitely rigged.
Is this actually related to Putin, or is it like blaming the actions of a democratic state government on Obama?
They could have made it less obvious. :v:
Is this actually related to Putin, or is it like blaming the actions of a democratic state government on Obama?
I don't think so. They probably said Putin's party so that people who weren't very familiar with Russian politics (eg. me) would be able to understand.
Is this actually related to Putin, or is it like blaming the actions of a democratic state government on Obama?
It's not clear if Putin was directly involved or even ordered it, but there's some quite obvious fraud going on here. Not even in the most slidey of landslides does a party get this many votes.
Sounds like Russia's taken a leaf out of Iran's book.
They obviously didn't read 'Election rigging 101', mainly the part about not making it so obvious.
