Youtube Upload + Windows Movie Maker Publish takes FOREVER.

With my computer, if I record a movie with Fraps at 1080p, and then edit, render and publish it with Windows Movie Maker at 1080p, it takes a couple hours usually 2 or 3. And that completely rapes my CPU, disallowing me to do anything on my computer afterwards.
Then, I have to go to Youtube to upload it, which takes usually an hour or 2 for HD videos. I mean, I'm stuck starting at the screen practically, to wait for my computer to be even remotely usable.
(At least when its only youtube, I can play minecraft without any problems.)
Does anyone know of anyway to make this 4-6 hour period shorter?
--Also, I've shot both of my computers Data drives, which consist of 128 gigs each. They fill up with Fraps within an hour, so I cant really record a bunch of videos, then upload them all at the same time, Does anyone know of a cheap external hard drive, preferably 1TB +?--
Edit : Also, please don't say "Then just do it in Standard Definition *LE DERP*" Thats not an option :)
Do it in 720p
The average computer screen is 1680x1050, incapable of displaying true HD.
Also the average person can't tell the differense bethween 720p and 1080p without it being stretched enough.
Now it takes less to upload and convert it, you need some storage for it.
I honestly would recommend internal storage, but external is fine too.

500GB for $50, though for $60 you could get a much better 1TB internal
