NATO has agreed to a request by the Turkish premier to hold an emergency meeting over the fatal Israeli raid on the Gaza-bound Freedom Flotilla.
"Planning is underway for a meeting at the request of the Turkish authorities tomorrow afternoon," James Appathurai, a spokesman for the alliance, said in a Monday statement.
NATO is deeply concerned about the loss of life in international waters, he added, AFP reported.
Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan had earlier denounced the assault and called for a meeting by the military alliance.
Erdogan pledged a proper response to the brutal Israeli attacks which killed 20 activists, including dozens of Turkish nationals.
"It should be known that we will not stay silent and unresponsive in the face of this inhuman state terror," Erdogan said.
The Freedom Flotilla was seeking to break Israel's three-year-long blockade of Gaza and deliver basic necessities to the impoverished Palestinians living in the coastal enclave.
The convoy, however, came under attack by Israeli navy in international waters more than 150 km (90 miles) off the coast of Gaza.
The international community has censured the move, with many European countries summoning Israeli ambassadors.
I swear if we make them pay money only I'm gonna be pissed
I hope they don't piss each other off enough to start a war.

Sanctions would be nice.
You know like 50 years ago this would mean war.
50 years ago WAS war.
Lets avoid turning this topic into a shitstorm.
Oh right, Sanctions on a major trade partner, that's gonna happen.
Stop crying for war too, it's not going to happen and even Turkey knows that.
Israel's fucked :v:

I somehow put my trust more to several news agencies, NATO and UN than one single picture from the Internet.
Oh, and i hope we can get as peacefully out of this as possible. The Freedom flotilla didn't sail there to start another war.
As I said in the other thread, court marshal every fucking person linked to that incident and send them away for life, or just shoot them.

The US goods is under limited sanctions when being imported into the UK.
Mostly under the form of heavy taxation of American goods. This was because they flouted some agreements a few years back.
So yes, it can happen to anyone.
Oh and Israel goods are already under sanction by some NATO members. Especially those produced by settlers.
Sanctions would be good. I don't expect much more than that.

Uh no.
They fucked up bad, but not badly enough for that. At most being suspended from duty or fired from their positions would be adequate.

I agree that would be a good solution, there's not a lot they can do to boss them around so treating them like a big boy and giving them heavy taxes might do some good.
I was refering more to the complete economic and political sanctions that are inflicted on North Korea and people expecting them to happen here, that kind of sanction sounds more like a monetary penalty than a form of isolation.

They were getting smacked by metal poles as they were boarding the ship.

Oh congratulations you thank someone who thoroughly dislikes the IDF and Israel defending them by linking me to something I already saw and acting smug
TY I will never do this again

That's nice except it's like 40 seconds long in what would have taken much longer. Where are the prior engagements, what happened before that and after that? Obviously the IDF is going to spin the video on their favor.

Okay, that was weird with the quote. The reply button didn't close the tag.
At least spell metal correctly

Nice Morrowind reference, Kagrenak :3:
IDF: LOL we're forcefully seizing a ship, Oh look People defending themselves with Household items! shoot them!.
I'm hoping NATO will do SOMETHING, Israel has gone on this "We can do what ever we want" tirade long enough.
IDF: LOL we're forcefully seizing a ship, Oh look People defending themselves with Household items! shoot them!.
Perhaps you should the watch the videos and hear accounts from both sides before you make stupid comments like that.

But the IDF were forcefully seizing the ship. And the civilians were defending them selves.
That is indisputable. Because that is the entire event.

Also the IDF recovered precisely ZERO firearms but said that they were shot at by the people on board witch in turn force them to open fire.
there's quite a difference between hitting someone with a chair and shooting them dead.

You can die from both.
The real question is why they needed to board the ship anyway, besides just feeling butthurt that aid was going to gaza.

Assault is assault is assault, and whether or not the person forcefully boarding your ship is shooting at you or coming at you with a chair, especially when sailing in that region, you defend yourself by any means possible.

That still doesn't change the fact that they were attack because they supposedly fired at the IDF, when all they had was household items. Next time, read.

I agree that the grunts should only be dishonorably discharged, but the officers behind this should be court marshalled.

If gun wielding strangers boarded my ship, I'd whack them with metal poles too
