President Obama doesn't always ask beer pitchmen for endorsements, but when he does, he prefers "the most interesting man in the world."
Jonathan Goldsmith, the actor who plays the bearded man of legend in commercials for Dos Equis, will host an Obama fundraiser Tuesday in Burlington, Vt., according to the Obama campaign.
Mr. Goldsmith, 73, will attend the reception along with Vermont House Speaker Shapleigh "Shap" Smith. The cost to attend ranges from $20 to $500.
Mr. Goldsmith has starred in Dos Equis commercials since 2006.
Whats with Obama and Reddit lately? If he's trying to appeal to them, the majority of them can't even vote.
More people than those on reddit watch beer commercials you know
Does Dos Equis actually even taste good?
I've always wondered if their product was actually as good as their commercials.

where in the article does this even mention reddit
Whats with Obama and Reddit lately? If he's trying to appeal to them, the majority of them can't even vote.
The largest age demographic for Reddit is actually 20 year olds.
And they have a few million of them.
Also the article has nothing to do with Reddit.

Considering just how active people are on the internet now, im surprised politicians haven't been more aggressive with their campaigns on it already.

Because young people don't vote as reliably as old people.
Whats with Obama and Reddit lately? If he's trying to appeal to them, the majority of them can't even vote.
And I ask you, why not?
Despite the massive amount of animosity towards Reddit that most Facepunch users seem to have, Reddit has a userbase that, demographically, is made up largely of young, liberal people and numbers in the millions, if not more. You'll see candidates for public office use major online forums more and more for campaigning purposes as time goes on. Obama was simply the first truly notable person to use something like Reddit as a sounding board.

It's fairly good. I'll be honest, I'm something of a beer snob and usually get craft brews, but in terms of mass-produced beers, I would call Dos Equis decently high quality.
Wow.. that dude looks younger than 73.
Whats with Obama and Reddit lately? If he's trying to appeal to them, the majority of them can't even vote.
72% of reddit falls in the 25-35 age bracket. We're the 13 year olds.

I wonder the same thing with Old Spice. The name makes me think it'll smell of old cinnamon and fuckin' potpourri.

old spice smells awesome, been using it since before the commercials
Because young people don't vote as reliably as old people.
Which is why Obama's including multiple messages/easy methods to get those people registered to vote and invested
Whats with Obama and Reddit lately? If he's trying to appeal to them, the majority of them can't even vote.
Reddit has an older userbase than Facepunch. I bet 3/4 of FP users can't vote.

Like it matters
And for some reason this is now Reddit discussion.
Only can Sensationalist Headlines take a thread about the most interesting man in the world having a fundraiser for Obama and turn it into an argument over Reddit.

Well that or Youtube comments.

Because of this dumbass:
Whats with Obama and Reddit lately? If he's trying to appeal to them, the majority of them can't even vote.
What I assume happened is he saw Goldsmith's face, immediately associated it with the meme, then immediately assumed that he did this because of Reddit.

The ads made me get Old Spice Fiji and I'm never using anything else again. I smell like the gods now.

O Thor, O Zeus, may your lightning odor be shown mercy, for here traverse the newborn god of smell.
I prefer that one deodorant that's a crossover with that one brand of soap. If I'm going to smell like anything I want to smell like soap dammit.
[sub]of course if I find a frankincense and myrrh deodorant somewhere I'm taking that shit in a heartbeat[/sub]
What makes this man so interesting? Sure he might be interesting, but the most interesting in the world? Or is it an inside joke I'm not getting?

Always thought of that commercial as easily exploited :v:

etc
Man. Meme creation programs have killed any effort ever going into jokes.
Those don't even really follow the format of the joke :v:
