I haven't looked into it to such an extent, but I'm sure if you google something along the lines of:
"Bittersweet Symphony trial"
You'll get what I'm trying to say, this happened a long time ago and I don't think many people have listened to the original.
Shocking.
Here's a recording of Andrew Oldham's orchestra, playing one of HIS pieces:

And here's Verve's hit song:

Reminds me of that game where you make monsters on that island and do olympic events
you can create it completely, and buy special items to add to your monster and shit.

Adventure Island or whatever. Cool stuff there
I've been looking for this everywhere. I heard it and could only find that verve version, thanks bro.
Wow. Huh, had no idea; even still, I can honestly say that I like Verve's better.
I quite like the one from Andrew Oldham. I knew there was something up with the Verve song, but I had not heard the original.

Andrew Oldham's version wins by a mile, sorry; it just does musically.
I like Marston Smiths version of it.
First time I heard the original... And I like it better.
Am I the only person who thinks it was a coincidence and even if it wasn't the original can suck a dick?
Just saying
Well apparently (I'm not having a dig) it was a straight steal and the Verve lost a trial and all the money that the Verve made went to the Stones. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I can say I only really like the part The Verve sampled for their song, though. Some of the other parts come off to me as monotonous and dull.

No, it's pretty clear that they sampled from the song. Come on. Same instrumentation, same notes. Even has those bells.

Amazing Island
I think it's just incredible for it's time, it was what 1966(?) when the original was recorded. That's what makes it infamous, besides the court case.
The Verve got into copyright lawsuits for sampling this song. :v:
But you have to admit, the lyrics to the Verves version make the song great.
Love the original though.
