See that's him. He looks pretty tired doesn't he? Well that's because he's making a movie and making a movie is a pretty tiring process. You ever heard of what went behind the making of Apocalypse Now? They went waaaay over budget and they handed the movie in waaaay over the deadline. Also pretty much everyone on set got addicted to heroin. No, Paul had nothing to do with Apocalypse Now, but look at the movie now! It's a classic! Okay I don't know if there really was a lot of trouble behind the making of these films. I don't really know where I was going with this. Anyway I hope sometime in the future, PTA's films will be regarded as classics because everyone of them is just very, very well made and entertaining.

His first film of course. I haven't seen it so I can't really say a lot about it. It's about a pro gambler who helps out some guy who just got broke in Las Vegas. But hey look at the poster. There's like a guy holding a guns. Guns are cool. Therefore this movie is probably cool as well. It also has Samuel L. Jackson in it. Hot Dog!
Here's a video of the pro gambler playing against some annoying guy played by Phillip Seymour Hoffman

The epic story of the porno star Dirk Diggler. The movie also follows all these characters in the backstage life in porno films during the 70's and 80's. It started out as a short movie Paul made in high school. The acting and directing of this movie is top-notch, and it has a great blend of drama and comedy. My favourite of his probably.
Here's the pool party scene.

His drama of epic proportions. There's this cop who falls in love with this druggie girl, who's the daughter of a gameshow host who is dying of cancer, and a genius kid who's on the show, and a former child star who used to be on the show, and the producer who's almost near death and her depressed wife and his nurse who helps him find his long lost son who runs seminars on how to seduce women, and it's all set during one rainy day in Las Angeles. Usually I don't like movies with a billion plots going on at the same time, but everyone is cast perfectly and every story is interesting so it's a blast from beginning to end. Also the conclusion is unexpected and great.

Adam Sandler in an artsy fartsy romance film? How could this be? This is the story of Berry Egan. He's insecure and has anger issues probably because of his seven annoying sisters. His sister then introduces a woman to him and of course they fall in love with each other. He also exploits this promotion thing where from buying pudding, he gets free air miles, but because the pudding is so cheap he get's a ton of airmiles for not a lot of money. This was actually inspired by a real guy who did the same thing. I don't know how it turned out though. He also gets caught up in a phone sex scam thing. Adam Sandler's surprisingly a very good dramatic actor in this movie and I'd like to see him in more dramas. The soundtrack's also very good.

The title lied to me. There's not a lot of blood in this movie. Despite the actiony looking trailer, this movie is very slow. It's not boring though. The cinematography is beautiful and Daniel Day-Lewis does a terrific job as portraying the oil tycoon Daniel Plainview. Throughout the movie as he becomes richer, he starts becoming more greedy and he starts acting more and more like an asshole. The soundtrack is by Radiohead's guitarist, Johnny Greenwood, and the music here fits perfectly. The phrase "I DRINK YOUR MILKSHAKE!" didn't really make a lot of sense to me before I watched the movie, but now that I've seen it, it's a great line. DRAAAAAAIIIIINNNAAAAAAAGGEE!

Only one's I've heard of are... of course "There Will be Blood" and "Hard Eight"
Both are good.
He's a fantastic director, but his name is too close to Paul W.S. Anderson, that fucker who made Alien vs Predator.
I was thinking of Paul W.S Anderson when I opened this. What a tragedy to have a name so close.
Edit: Fooking ninja'd!
There Will Be Blood was so brilliant.
The one thing I don't get from There Will Be Blood is why the son became a mute after he lost his hearing.
Boogie Nights and There Will Be Blood are amazing films.

Traumatizing experience.

It's hard to talk correctly when you can't hear yourself doing it.

There Will Be Blood is one of my favorite movies ever, I think.
I watched There Will be Blood again about a week ago.
What a fucking good movie.

there's a competition in me
Daniel Day Lewis totally shot a guy in the head. When I saw that it looked so painful.
Paul Dano and Daniel Day Lewis gave two of the best performances I've ever seen.
I've only seen There Will Be Blood.
Also, when I saw OP's first picture I thought it was George Clooney.

Looks like that American Idol winner with the gray hair.
'Magnolia' is easily my favourite film ever, I also loved "There Will Be Blood". I think Anderson is one of the few brilliant directors working in mainstream cinema
My mistake.....there will be blood was a brilliant film! the cinematic photography in some of the scene's ( especially the action ones ) was brilliantly thought out and placed.
Wrong Paul Anderson there
