We all know the Mayan prophecy of the world ending in December 21/23 in the year 2012,this very year. The date marks the end of the Great Mayan Cycle and it is said to mark the beginning of a New World Age,the next stage in the evolution of the earth. The overriding belief, however,is that the date marks the destruction and end of the earth as we know it.There are countless theories besides these as well.
Now my question for you guys is;where do you stand on the 2012 conspiracy? Do you believe that it truly marks the beginning of something significant, and if so,what? Will it be a rebirth,or a razing of the earth? Or,do you believe that the great Mayan conspiracy is just a paranoia, that it will just be a normal year like all the rest before it? What are your reasons for what you think?

Load of bullshit. The Mayans themselves didn't predict anything (contrary to popular belief), they just stopped their long count calendar. Only in pop culture is the idea of the Mayans themselves predicting doomsday is where the idea originated from, which is bullshit.
Think of their long count calendar like the Gregorian calendar that practically all of society uses today and other calendars before it. What happens on the last day of those calendars? Jack shit. The calendars just restart on the first day of the calendar, and repeats for infinity. The exact same thing will happen with the Mayan long count calendar. Last day happens, and we start over again on the first day of the calendar.
Many doomsday theories have been predicted, yet all those that were supposed to happen didn't and we're still here today and I'm here typing this. Why believe in this theory when all the others were bullshit?
In fact, the theory is filled with so much bullshit that Penn and Teller did a P&T: Bullshit! episode about the 12/21/12 doomsday theory.
12/21/12 will be a normal day, and we'll be here on 12/22/12, when the movie 2012 becomes a comedy movie. However, I'd avoid against going anywhere nonetheless due to the riots that will probably erupt due to the nuts that think it is ending. When those nuts are in jail on 12/22/12, they'll be thinking "why the fuck was I stupid enough to riot?" and will wonder why they believed this bullshit.
As for anything significant happening nonetheless, a significant event has just as equal odds of happening coincidentally on 12/21 than on any other day.

and besides, wasnt the mayan calender seven years late or something between thos lines?
I agree but...
They predicted 9/11.
“Horror, horror! The American brethren will fall after being attacked by the steel birds. The wolves will be howling in a bush, and innocent blood will be gushing.”

I suppose, but if they never predicted anything in the first place, that hardly holds any water. Like what's been said, the Mayan calendar will simply end on that day. No carvings on it that say anything about death and plagues and what-not. It just ends.
There is a new thread like this every month.
The answer never changes, it is always and will always be no.
There is not enough evidence to truthfully support it. It's just paranoia and labeling by society because that is what society does. There has been a lot of conflicting evidence, and there are even other calenders that last longer. The point I'm trying to make is that it's a load of bullshit and you should get on with your life instead of worrying about it.

I believe so. I don't think they came up with the concept of a leap year and so they're off quite a bit from 2012.
Besides - the calendar had to end some time. I seriously doubt Mayans could build an infinite calendar.
Always bet on the end of the world NOT happening, because if it doesn't, you were right. If it DOES, there's noone there to tell you that you were wrong.
So, with that said: it wont happen.

Where? I didn't even know Americans existed back then.

That was baba vaga or something like that, she also predicted the world would end some time ago, and that didn't happen.
The only vaguely apocalyptic thing that'll happen on that date is a lot of nutters and gullible people doing dumb shit because they think they're about to die.

They didn't predict 9/11. That's just so vague. If you actually gave me that quote without saying it was about 9/11, I wouldn't put two and two together.

Also, commercial airplanes are mad of aluminum. Planes using steel would just be too heavy.
As this is getting closer and closer and nothing is happening many people(including me) will think nothing will happen. And guess what? Nothing will happen.

How can the earth evolve if it ends
They never explain their definition of 'ends'

Self-fulfilling prophecy, then?
Self-fulfilling prophecy, then?
Well no, it's not likely there'll be enough of them to end the world. Some severe civil disorder, perhaps.

Yeah, given that the Mayans didn't have steel I'm calling bullshit on this.
