The World's Best Airports For 2014 - Singapore gets number one, London's Heathrow airport get number

The airport ranking agency Skytrax just released its annual list of top airports around the globe, and it wont surprise anyone that Singapore has again taken the top spot. Rounding out that list are:
1. Singapore Changi Airport
2. Incheon International Airport
3. Munich Airport
4. Hong Kong International Airport
5. Amsterdam Schipol Airport
6. Tokyo International Airport
7. Beijing Capital International Airport
8. Zurich Airport
9. Vancouver International Airport
10. London Heathrow Airport
None of the top ten airports were in the United States. In fact the only airport selected in North America was Vancouver International in British Colombia.
The results fall closely in line with past years’ reports that perennially give Singapore, Incheon (South Korea) and Hong Kong top honors.
Award criteria for the top airports also took into account the full experience across an entire airport’s footprint. As many frequent travelers know, the experience from one terminal (say T3 in Heathrow) can be drastically different from another (say, T5 in Heahtrow). To help highlight that contrast, Skytrax also published a list of top airport terminals. In order, the winners were:
1. London Heathrow Airport – T5
2. Singapore Changi Airport – T3
3. Haneda Airport International Terminal
4. Shanghai Hongqiao Airport – T2
5. Munich Airport – T2
6. Madrid Barajas Airport – T4
7. Chendu Shuangliu International Arport
8. Beijing Capital International Airport – T3
9. Los Angeles Tom Bradley International
10. Dubai International Airport – T3

I've never been to any of these airports but it would be interesting to try one of them sometime. I've disliked pretty much every airport I've been to.
I wonder what the worlds worst airports are like...
The best airport I've been to (I've only been to airports in the US) was Hartsfield-Jackson international airport in Atlanta.

That's probably because it has the highest traffic in the U.S., but I'm really not surprised no U.S. airports made the list. There's a lot of rich/tourist countries that put a crazy amount of money into their airports, because it's your first impression of the country when you exit the plane. I've heard Singapore's and Hong Kong's airports are ridiculous.

Come to our country for some shining examples :v:
I've been to a Singapore airport before and can confirm its pretty neato
That entire place fucking sparkles, there are people cleaning constantly, also giant indoor forests
No love for O'hare
YVR in Vancouver is a pretty cool airport.
It's one of the only airports that I know of that has defib machines a 2 minute walking distance apart across the entire terminal. You literally can have a heart attack anywhere in the building, and you're just a short run from a nearby defib machine, the defib machines even walk you through how to give a basic defib with verbal commands.
pretty cool vancouver. Pretty cool
I've been to 5 of them. I don't recall anything special, except that it's clean and really freaking huge.
Heathrow's actually quite surprising but I agree that terminal 5 is fucking nice, the others are a bit more questionable but I laughed when I saw it was #1 on best shopping. :v:

The Singapore airport has its own slide from top floor to bottom floor. I guess that is what got them the prize.
Singapore Airport has a goddamn Butterfly-House and free leg massage chairs all over the place, it's so nice, i've been there 4 times.

Its actually not that amazing really, I worked in the airport on some 4D cinema ride shit, and it was right beside. Only kids go there, and you had to spend like 50 bucks before you get a ticket for the ride. Its just a slide, that's about it. Because we held some of the receipts, we had virtually unlimited rides. So on shitty days where there is barely anyone, we kept going on the ride.

Then again I suppose it didn't help when we had that incident, with the train.

Go to LaGuardia, famously referred to by Joe Biden as "a third world country".

Best 50 ive ever spent.
I felt the money pissing out of my pocket as i slid down.
Heathrow T5 is a nice building, I have only been there to pretty much just look at it but its just so nice and airy compared to any airport terminal I have to/from.
I'm curious what the worst major International airports are. For some reason, I can imagine Toronto Pearson being on that list. I swear it's a kilometre walk from the overseas terminal to customs when you arrive, and then customs is crowded as shit because 5 other flights have arrived within the last 10 minutes and they're all in the same customs line. You also have to fill out a CBSA declaration from while on-board the plane, something that seems unique to Canada, as I didn't have to fill out a form for EU customs on my way to Helsinki.
My experience coming home from Florida in the past was no better (different terminal), but I last did that years ago, so my memory's a little vague.
I didn't know Schiphol was that good. It was certainly an amazing experience coming there for the first time as an 8 year old. It seemed as big as a city.
Terminal 5 at Heathrow is fairly nice, but GETTING to Terminal 5 isn't fun. It's a long ride around the dullest parts of London on a barely marked bus that was almost never around to board.

A kilometre probably isn't really that bad. I am like 99% sure that at ("London", lol) Luton the walk from the entrance to the furthest gate (which happened to be where my ryanair flight was leaving from.. Literally the last gate) was about a mile or two. Plus the airside "facilities" were awful, consisting of about 5 shops and two restaurants in a circle with hundreds of people crammed into the tiny space in the middle.
Could be worse I guess though, Pathos airport in Cyprus has boarding gates that are outside. The seats and waiting area is actually outside under a small little cover. And their baggage system seems to like to randomly fail at peak times as well.
hmm, never been to any of these, wonder what they're like. i've been to the dallas and atlanta airports (whatever they're called) and thought they were pretty damn good, it's weird to think that they're nowhere near the top 10
Schiphol number 5, woop woop!
heathrow is overrated.
singapore, bangkok and dubai are fantastic. Beijing is also magnificent.

Most, if not all public defibs come with this feature
Dubai has a pretty nice airport. Not sure which terminal I was in though
The only airports I've been to is Brisbane and Sydney's airports, they were pretty nice and didn't feel big like I thought they were, once you found your flight's lounge it was boring, just a TV playing the today show and the usual "Last check for missing passenger blah blah" over the PA
