Truly a new age in aviation.
And for us apartment dwellers that don't have a fancy yard?
And for us apartment dwellers?
I guess the same thing if it does have a yard? It can just ignore the apartment number if maneuvering into a balcony is too dangerous (which it probably would be even with sense & avoid) and treat it as a house anyway.
that mother fucker is way bigger than the one they imagined a few months ago
I wonder how long until some butthole shoots one down out of paranoia
And for us apartment dwellers that don't have a fancy yard?
They already do regular one hour delivery.
And for us apartment dwellers that don't have a fancy yard?
Clip-on landing pad for your balcony?
I wonder what how much they will ask for damage/destruction if anyone decides to deliberately attempt to ruin the thing.
Probably quite a fucking lot, and I imagine it'll have cameras on it.
I also wonder how long until amazon sues someone after finding out they keep shooting their drones down
I also wonder how long until amazon sues someone after finding out they keep shooting their drones down
Or when people start suing Amazon because "Muh privacy gets invaded with those drones"
Would be fun to make your own drones to hunt them out of the skies and take the packages like some sort of drone pirate Like think about it; if you could make a drone / remote controlled thingy that could disable one of these then haul the contents back to a secure location you could probably seize a lot of goods. Then I wouldn't have to awkwardly mug the UPS drivers anymore
I just want it to deliver my condoms so that the bitches are impressed. And also when I tell them I don't have any at the last minute and need to recover from the embarrassing situation of not having any.
There might be day soon where these are a routine sight. A future of a lot of bzzzzzzzz Don't know if I'm looking forward to it.
I wonder if the drone can detect water if someone tries to pull a prank by placing that landing pad mat at the bottom of a filled pool. Also this won't be here in Germany anytime soon as you are required to stay in sight of the drone with a maximum distance of about 200m to 300m.
People could just get a normal drone and drape a string under it. Then all they'd have to do is fly in front of the thing to get it tangled. I'd expect them to only allow amazon air for people with x amount of orders or who pay a subscription
I wonder how long until some butthole shoots one down out of paranoia
Or shoots one down to steal what's it carrying(people already steal packages from people's doorsteps, what's going to stop them from shooting down a drone?), I also wonder how long it'll be until some asshat finds out how to hack them. As the saying goes, people will steal anything that isn't bolted down...I know this to be a truth because people have stolen wet floor signs from the McDonalds I work at and even one of the large paintings of Ronald McDonald that we had on the wall got stolen by somebody.
I'd be more afraid of my dogs running into it
I also wonder how long until amazon sues someone after finding out they keep shooting their drones down
Intentional destruction of something that expensive is a felon, so probably sometime after your sitting in prison suddenly thinking how not funny that was.
I can see this going wrong in so many ways
I can see this going wrong in so many ways
so can literally anyone else it seems, but all of these issues will probably be prevalent for like, a year at most until people get bored and just let it be. remember how drones themselves were going to be the end of privacy and were gonna get shot down and terrorize people, etc etc? now nobody gives a shit and they're flying around left and right. all of these horror stories and people shooting them down or running over people's dogs will not last, if they happen at all. all amazon has to do is just form some legal action against people who shoot down that shit (which they totally have legal grounds to do considering it's their property and they'll have trackers up the whazoo on those things) and bam, people will back off. obviously you'll have one or two assholes who will try and start shit, but the likelyhood of that becoming common is next to nothing. also it should be mentioned that this thing will also avoid people on the ground, so any problems like that will be negated when it tries to fly away from crazies and strays from populated areas except when delivering.

id assume these drones would be pretty highly monitored for both customer safety and loss prevention considering the size of that thing you'd be hard pressed to just run up to it and nab it, while at the same time it is literally covered in cameras and has a always-active GPS trying to steal/shoot/destroy one of these things would just net you an extremely hefty fine and/or prison time for public endangerment.
Looks almost like they fitted the drone with weaponry with how much bulkier this version is (why do I feel like that might actually happen with tasers/pellet guns?). Bulkiest version is just a re-purposed A-10 Warthog [editline]1st December 2015[/editline] It will surely be a trip to see one of these things fly to my front yard
I'm looking forward to videos of drones delivering packages to strange locations because of confusing landing environments. Packages ending up on roofs and in pools etc
If it actually ends up being a success they'll change the laws.
Nowhere that I know of in the Western world currently has regulations which permit BVLOS (Beyond visual line of sight) operations, for obvious reasons. If Amazon perfects the sense and avoid technology, then they might stand a chance of convincing some countries, but it'll take a long time yet.
