• Do people that are blind from birth have any dreams?

Another one of my weird question threads :) Well i've always been trying to figure out what blind people dream about. They obviously have to be blind from birth. So if they have never seen a single color or a single movement in their whole life, can they dream at night? Or are the dreams they have just sound? This also goes for deaf people, Do they hear things in their dreams or just see things soundless? Discuss.
They're just sound I believe.

Basicly, you dream what have you saw, heard or expirienced during the life,so they don't dream what they saw,but they dream what they've heard. Hope this helps.
Weird I was just talking with my friends about this. Their dreams would probably only be sound
Holy shit my mind was blown thinking about it.
Agree with the two first posters, except I think they dream of the world as they think it looks.

Yes, blind people do dream. What they see in their dreams depends on how much they could ever see. If someone has been totally blind since birth, they only have auditory dreams. If someone such as I, has had a measure of sight, then that person dreams with that measure of sight. I still dream as though I can see, colors included. For people I've met since, their faces are just blurs or how I imagine they look. To me, someone like my mother looks forever 30
Sounds, and the feeling of touch. It'd be a normal dream, just without vision
How the fuck are we supposed to know? That's like asking if a man that can't could spell.

They have dreams of people making physical contact with them and they also hear voices of loved ones and shit. So yes they dream, just without sight.

yes they will dream, they may be blind but they still have memories
I really like it when you hit me like that.
How the fuck are we supposed to know? That's like asking if a man that can't could spell.
Which is a terrible comparison considering you can just SPEAK TO HIM.
I imagine their dream are even wilder than for those with sight.
Of what? If they're blind from birth I don't think they ever saw anything. .
well you don't need to see things to experience them you can have memories from when someone told you something
They're just sound I believe.
They probably look something like this
Agree with the two first posters, except I think they dream of the world as they think it looks.
But they won't know what anything would be, or how anything would like. It's like any of us trying to think of a new colour.
When you close your eyes really hard you can see flashes and shapes, could that be what they see?
Everyone has dreams, EVERYONE. [editline]12:38PM[/editline]
When you close your eyes really hard you can see flashes and shapes, could that be what they see?
No, they see nothing, what you see is where you are actually pushing the eye, causing energy to be transferred to the brain in the form of visual signals. The flash is because the amount of pressure is relatively uniform, so the energy is being converted into the shape of an all-enveloping light.
Even without pressure man.
Can you imagine what it is like being blind? Closing your eyes and what you see then is black, because you're denying your eyes light. Now imagine now having eyes at all... you can't even comprehend that!
They probably have some kind of hallucination that they comprehend as their dream, but not perhaps as sight; if someone was blind because their eyes were screwed up then they'd still have the visual processing sections in their brain, they would just likely have atrophied through lack of use and been replaced by stronger perceptive processors for other stimuli
