Jerry Brown said, “This Sunday will be Steve Jobs Day in the State of California.” Jobs died Oct. 5 and was buried two days later during a small private funeral. Since his passing, the world — including U.S. President Barack Obama, Microsoft’s Bill Gates and Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg — has mourned his passing and celebrated his achievements. He was a pretty important guy, and he did do a lot to shape our modern digital world.

I just realized that he didn't make the first computer with a GUI interface, he borrowed it from Xerox. That's why Xerox was willing to give away the Alto, they had no idea what they were throwing away. The same thing goes for smartphones, before the iPhone smartphones mostly appealed to business people and executives, but after the iPhone came out smartphones became much more mainstream, and pretty much every modern smartphone borrows from the iPhones design somewhat. So when I said he helped shape the modern digital world, I mean there were a lot of great ideas out there that were half-realized and probably would have never been used by regular people without Apple.
