This game looks to be damn good as hell but it looks like it could fall to the hype train, now that no mans sky is out what's gonna go on with this game? I'm optimistic.

The game still looks like it has potential, but i'm paranoid about A.) the combat, which could be really damn cool or really damn monotonous, B.) the open world which I just don't really trust Square-Enix with making it better than the average Ubisoft open world style that's the norm lately, and C.) the tumultuous development that's had radical game changes even over the past year since Nomura left and Tabata took over.

We've had 2 demos with combat, the magic is the worst part imo since you need to aim it.
I think it looks awesome, but, as Dunkey said, hopefully the story isn't just full of anime writing.

Well one demo was a good indicator of the game overall but only the general story/area remain since the gameplay got a major overhaul since then due to the change in directors, and the second demo was a half hour (at best) tech demo that really isn't very indicative of the final game outside of base gameplay factors. Base gameplay factors that, personally speaking, didn't feel very good to me.
After their financial sucess with FFXIV, I really just want Square Enix to hit it out of the ballpark again with this game considering all the extra fluff they're doing like the movie and anime series. The FF7 remake is enough to worry about, imo.

I'm happy they inherited combat sistem from kindgom hearts.
I must say I really like the concept of a story told through the framework of a manly roadtrip and the quirks of brotherly bonding. It feels really innovative.
I'm worried that the whole thing will be handled ham-fistedly by Squeenix however. My top fears include:
1. The real-time combat lacking any requirements of finesse and revolving mostly around kicking the butts of the same gormless mooks over
2. The characters and plot being boiled down to nothing but the same generic save-the-world-mess with no "heart" to it, and
3. The whole roadtrip mechanic being just a gimmick that gets brought up for one quarter of the game and then forgotten about.

Honestly i'm just glad they're not using FF13's boring combat system. Even LR strayed into something more real time and more character action than that weird ATB real time system they had in FF13.

I've gotta say though, the game looks like an interesting direction for the series. After watching the SBFP two parter of the demo released a while ago, the combat seems pretty solid, the world looks really interesting and graphically it's of course up there. I just wonder if the plot and writing can keep pace.

FF games always deliver in terms of music and overall game feel and art design, so I'm not too worried. The game itself looks massively interesting/entertaining, the way it's been handled and the unique style of characterization the game promises certainly do look exciting to me. I can't wait for it to release.

People have been wondering about this for such a long time now, but I just don't know. I think it's generally thought that it will be a delayed PC release.
Square has been showing us a lot of love on the PC, so I don't think they'll leave us at the gas station when the car goes off, so to speak.
