A man accused of abducting three woman and holding them captive at his Ohio home for a decade pleaded guilty to multiple charges on Friday, as part of a plea deal that spared him from a death sentence.
Ariel Castro – charged with 977 counts over the kidnap, rape and brutal treatment of Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight – agreed a deal with prosecutors under which he will serve life without parole, plus 1,000 years.
The women were 14, 16, and 20 when they were abducted by Castro, a former school bus driver. For about a decade, Castro repeatedly abused them and kept them hidden from the world, often chaining them to a bedroom heater or a pole in his basement, prosecutors said.
jesus christ what the hell, it's almost the same as Josef Fritzl
Edited:
thanks to the editor not keeping what you had whenever you posted I'm not going to fix it again but it's 977, not 997. My bad.
jesus christ, thats awful
what an awful human being

maybe he'll be rehabilitated after 1000 years
he will serve life without parole, plus 1,000 years.
Too lenient I say, he needs another 1,000 or so years thrown onto his sentence.
A decade, jesus christ. I can't imagine the pain those people went through, not seeing their families, friends, or people in general.
This is awful; these women's lives are ruined while he rots in prison for the rest of his life. One article I saw said that he forced one of the women to have an abortion via a coat hanger. Terrible stuff; all I can feel is remorse for these women.
I think the bigger issue is how the fuck do you do 977 crimes and not get caught
Are the police fucking asleep? Do they not pick up a trend?

He was charged with all of them all at once due to keeping women locked in his home for years on end.
1,000 years.
i'm sorry but hearing that makes me think he'll still be alive and when he is released he'll say "after a thousand years i'm finally free!" and darkness takes over the world.
Only another 3 months and it'd have been an even 1000 charges.
[editline]asd[/editline]
I was going to make a joke about OCD, now I feel like an ass for even thinking about it.
If anyone hasn't seen, there's an interview with the guy who reported that the girls were there.

Damn, how long did it take to state all the charges he had to plead to?
"Have you anything to say before I pass sentence?"
"Yes... I'm very sorry..."

that's a lot of rape.
1,000 years.

Dark clouds start to circle the grounds outside of the prison, a thunderstorm starts, the ground begins to crack, then this rises up out of the dirt:

Seriously? He pleads guilty and got 1,000 years and we don't just give him the death penalty?

It was a plea bargain. It would have been the death penalty if he didn't plead guilty. His original plan was to plead innocent, but apparently his own lawyers admitted they couldn't rebuke some charges; they also didn't want to put the women through any more trouble by having them testify.

Ah, okay.
Well, in any case, I hope he gets fucking shanked to death.

It's a death sentence either way, this way is just longer and more agonizing for him.
Put him in cryogenic stasis and make him an example for the future.

This is a fair punishment considering his crimes. Just what I wanted.
seeing this case go unnoticed for so long makes you think how many of these kidnapping things have been going on for so long without no one ever finding out.. It's a scary thing to think

And then he summons his forces of evil and vows revenge on the descendants of the 3 girls.

well know he's locked up in a cell for the rest of his life so he's getting a taste of his own medicine

At the cost of the tax payers. there needs to be a way to deal with people like this without shoving them in prison for the rest of there life being a burden on society. maybe something like, they have to work for the money it takes to keep them inside.

Yeah but here in America we're a little bit against slave labor since we tried it once and it didn't really work out for us
I'm glad he didn't get the death penalty. 10 years holding these three women, I'm sure he'd just love the satisfaction of a quick and painless death very soon. This way he can sit in a small cell and think about what he's done.
Honestly life in prison is worse than death.
What kind of life is a life with no meaning? If you live just to live, you're nothing more than an animal.
You probably see people come and go in prison all the time, there'd be no shortage of conversation. Prison isn't going to make you smarter but it's still a type of learning experience I suppose.
