I also never really thought about how Garry is a millionaire.
Worth noting that Rust costs 3x more than GMod.
Still has been successful though.
Feels like Garry managed to hit the same playerbase motherload Notch did with Minecraft. Nice work.

Correct me if I am wrong but I presume some royalties go to Unity3D whereas with Gmod you needed to own another Source game so I would expect Valve to pass the Source license for free as you are promoting their other games, or is that not the case?

Kind of a lame way to think imo, pretty much the whole team behind it matters, not just one guy. Kind of like in music when people talk about a band they usually refer to the singer only, i.e nirvana and kurt cobain.

Valve takes a 50 % cut of Garry's mod for giving garry access to the full source engine

Well from what I've seen it's part way between minecraft and DayZ. I think it is totally destined for success.
I can understand buying it when it's a finished product, and I can understand wanting to support a product you see some potential in.
