That's actually real fucking sad that people would try that, people are such fucking scum. Even a few hours ago at the start of the bus route for my bus, a wallet was left on the back seat and a dude went and just took it, I ripped it out of his hand and everyone on-board realized what was going on and the bus driver kicked him off, then I took it to the police station nearby. Sad thing is, this was an old lady's wallet who just forgot it on the bus and had a lot of her pension money in cash in it, her going without that could mean she'd miss out on meals, paying rent and paying for utilities. :(

That person they talked to might have been drowning in debt and struggling to pay rent. they could only imagine what an extra 1k would do for them, how much it could have helped them so no, they are not scum, they are normal people.
Except for the fact it's not a gift?
don't be pedantic, you know what I mean
don't be pedantic, you know what I mean
Ehhh, doesn't really matter. I don't care how far in debt you are, claiming lost money as your own when it's not is just plain wrong. Regardless how much it is, it's not a "gift from the universe", it's someone else's fucking money. It was THEIR gift, they just lost or forgot it because of whatever circumstances. No one has the right to claim that money. Granted it takes a strong person to do the right thing, these people are not just normal people. They're people who will take whatever they can whenever they can and then act like normal people. People who KNOW the things they do are wrong, but do it anyway, only afraid of the scorn of others. They really are not normal people. Normal people have a conscience. And I like to think someone with a conscience would be able to muster the strength it takes to say no. Cause honestly, for someone who thinks about the negative repercussions of, say, stealing such a large sum of cash, I don't think it's actually all that hard to muster that strength. That said it was really funny when that guy heard the radio and just ran off as fast as he could :v:

I know.

I don't think you throught this through.
UHHHHH Taking money from others can put them in debt and struggle to pay rent too you know? People want to look out for themselves and their own family. "someone else's loss, is my gain." present this situation to anyone on the street and i would guarantee that anyone with a low income would take the money do you fault them for that?

I'm baffled at how many people would just steal a $1000 because why not.
If you keep money you know isn't yours you're a piece of shit. I've found a golden weddingring once, and went €300 out of pocket to place it on a special wedding ring lost and found website, but I got it back to it's original owner. I also found a wallet with €1.900 (or $2.200 something) once. I brought it to the police, and it turned out an 18 year old kid who was just about to go buy his first over the top PC, with surround sound, and 3 monitors was robbed just outside of the store and the robber ditched the wallet were I found it because it was really close to the policestation and he heard sirens. No I'm not rich, and yes I could use a free $2.500 total worth very well, but it wasn't mine, and you're, again, a piece of no good shit if you keep other peoples money without their consent. No matter the consequences. Also don't forget, I got a €350 reward for the weddingring (so I 'made' €50), and I got €100 for returning the PC wallet. It's 'only' €150 reward money, but at least I deserved it, and got it in an honest way.

I picked it up and immediately brought it inside and told one of the cashiers that I found them outside. It makes me wonder what would have happened had I not noticed it, or not even picked it up. Whoever that poor person was who dropped that stuff would likely be screwed. They'd probably get slammed with credit card bills for shit they didn't even buy, and it would ruin their credit completely.
it would really depend on how much money it is. if i find, like, up to $200 lying on the ground with no way to identify who it came from, i would have a difficult time not pocketing it. any more than that and i would probably take it to the police of course, no matter how much money it is if i find it in a wallet i will return it, you're much more likely to find the original owner of a wallet than of a random assortment of bills
