So I was at school today and the class douchebag is talking shit as usual. I lean over to see what social
teenagers are up to and they start talking about "Powabandz". I assumed they were some type of
'drug' like those filter rapes that apparently "Get you high", so I looked it up and got this.

What the fuck?
So I went and found this article that told me what they did and what they were made of
"Power Balance claims that a programmed frequency is embedded into the mylar hologram.
When this frequency comes into contact with the magnetic field of your body, it allegedly restores
it to the 7.83 hertz required."
What?
Can anyone actually vouch for these working?
Is anyone this stupid?
tl;dr Placebo steroids that cost $50.
or
"Don't buy it"

What the fuck is this?
Great thread.
That's a cheaper version of that stupid magnetic metal bracelet fad that was supposed to prevent heart attacks or some shit.
I've read that this shit is fake and is a waste of money.
Don't buy it
obviously placebo
I know a guy at my school who wears those. I overheard him talking about it one day and he sounded like he was in a cult or some shit. My guess is that they don't do anything for you.
Well, I guess they look kind of cool but not $50 cool...
Damn, my skin was 3.5 gigahertz this whole time!!!!!!
Loads of kids at my school bought these and I fucking laugh at how much of a waste of human resources they are that they would think that these are real
fake fake
People take these seriously?

why the hell would you waste money on placebo shit when you could just buy real drugs?
We should harness this energy to overclock our CPU's!
Ever since I purchased my Power Balance Band™ and began studying Biokinesis, my quality of life has increased dramatically! It really works!
I can't actually believe this is allowed to sell. It's false advertising.

"Waste of a human resources"??
the proceeds go to cancer funds, if people think it helps them, it will. don't buy it if you don't want to, don't bitch about it unless it hurts you.

Know what hurts me? Living in a society of credulous people.

In what way did it work? :q:
Know what hurts me? Living in a society of credulous people.
get over it. if people think they are getting better they will get better. they aren't doing any harm to society by this, they are actually helping it by inadvertently donating to cancer funds.
funfact: i had to google what credulous was
they aren't doing any harm to society by this,
They aren't doing society any harm by putting their faith in obvious bullshit and turning their backs on reason? Pretty sure that's about the most harmful thing you can do to society.
It's not like I'm going to force them to be sensible. People should be allowed to whatever stupid shit they want as long as they aren't directly infringing on someone else's rights, but to argue that believing in stupid shit like this isn't harmful to the human race as a whole? Nope.
I love their website.

:words:
Every single football/basketball player at my school wears these things. It's fucking retarded.

while i do highly value free thinking and skepticism, i do not see the harm in some people not applying those skills to this area. once again, it's helping cancer research, and helping their health.
many people use reason in all aspects of their life except in certain areas. in this case, reason isn't required to help society.
perhaps reason should be applied in other areas, and that would help society, but in this case reason isn't necessary.
