I could really go without the guy on the piano randomly mashing keys and/or saying something inane every time the audience laughs to remind people that he's there.

It's like a hollow version of the Eric Andre band

I think it might be so Colbert doesn't go to far in what he says, since FCC and all.

He's been doing that since the start of the show though

Whenever Colbert makes a joke, just press the right arrow on the keyboard and skip the laughter. Almost all the time it's 5, 10 or 15 seconds long, as if it was made for that.

The loud laughter drowning out everything is the single biggest problem with these videos. I can have Colbert loud enough to make out easily then get my eardrums blown out when the audience laughs or turn on subtitles and turn things down enough that I won't get hearing damage but can't make out half of what Colbert says. Shit's annoying.

He's the worst, it drives me up the wall. Kevin Newbanks used to sort of do it but he'd only laugh and then chime in when Leno threw over to him, which is how it should be, and how everyone else does it, except maybe Andy Richter. But Andy adds to the jokes and conversation, doesn't just react to them
I really dislike it when the audience goes mad cheering and clapping every half sentence he makes.
