We are deeply saddened to report that Clive Burr passed away last night. He had suffered poor health for many years after being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and died peacefully in his sleep at home.
Steve Harris said “This is terribly sad news. Clive was a very old friend of all of us. He was a wonderful person and an amazing drummer who made a valuable contribution to Maiden in the early days when we were starting out. This is a sad day for everyone in the band and those around him and our thoughts and condolences are with his partner Mimi and family at this time."
Bruce Dickinson adds “I first met Clive when he was leaving Samson and joining Iron Maiden. He was a great guy and a man who really lived his life to the full. Even during the darkest days of his M.S., Clive never lost his sense of humour or irreverence. This is a terribly sad day and all our thoughts are with Mimi and the family” As Maiden fans all know, Clive joined Maiden in 1979 and performed on the first three albums Iron Maiden (1980), Killers (1981) and The Number Of The Beast (1982). Prior to that he was a member of SAMSON, the band Bruce fronted before he too joined Maiden.
Some thread music. Saw these guys last summer (though obviously not him). RIP Clive.
We only had him three albums but those first three were some of the best.
I am FUCKING crushed. Seriously I am a fucking colossal Iron Maiden fan and his drumming kicked fucking ass. Seriously a good drummer and it really fucking sucks to have MS. Must have not been an easy exit, these last few years.

rip
Alas, yet another wonderful talent passed away. It's always sad when people so talented have to go.
FUCK FUCK
SHIT FUCK GODDAMNIT
legendary drummer, this is really sad for me.
I was just listening to Iron Maiden on the train. Not good news to come home to :(
This sucks I grew up listing to Number of the Beast album and because of that I fell in love with old heavy rock/Heavy Metal. R.I.P.
I was gonna make this thread if it hadn't already been made. Clive was an absolute beast of a drummer, his hi-hat strokes are fucking legendary. I can't think of another player that can do the shit he could. Absolute legend, and it's a shame he had to suffer so many years with MS. The first 3 Iron Maiden records still stand today as some of the best metal albums ever. It's such a shame that it happened on Steve's birthday as well but it surely just means that we'll celebrate two things from now on rather than just one.
It's good to hear that even though he had to struggle with this disease, he stayed himself all the way through to the end.

I saw them on the Final Frontier World Tour in Aberdeen. It was the first time they'd played Aberdeen since the Killer World Tour in 1981, which was pretty awesome. It was an incredible show too, support by Airbourne. Such a great night.
