'Justice League' aims for summer 2015 after Superman victory

DC Comics' superheroes can finally team up on the big screen following yesterday's legal victory for Warner Bros. in its long-running fight over the rights to Superman. The studio is expected to accelerate development of a planned Justice League movie that would join Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman and other characters, according to a knowledgeable person not authorized to discuss the matter publicly.
Warner hopes to shoot the film next year and release it in the summer of 2015. The studio already has a Justice League script in the works. Next it needs to attach a director and then cast the lead roles.
Had Warner lost its case against the heirs of Superman co-creator Joe Shuster, it would not have been able to make Justice League or any other movies, television shows or comics featuring key elements of the Man of Steel's mythos after 2013 unless it reached a new agreement with the estates of Shuster and co-creator Jerry Siegel.
That uncertainty made it difficult for Warner to move ahead with Justice League, which the studio's motion pictures group president, Jeff Robinov, has long wanted to make as a pillar of its big-screen superhero strategy.
Robinov previously tried unsuccessfully to convince The Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan to produce Justice League. Nolan is producing next year's Superman movie Man of Steel. Wednesday's court victory also makes it possible for Warner to make sequels to Man of Steel if the picture is successful.
With Green Lantern flopping and other movies featuring the Flash and Wonder Woman lingering in development, Warner has lagged behind Walt Disney Co.'s Marvel Studios in profiting from cinematic superheroes. Only Nolan's blockbuster Batman movie trilogy has succeeded for the Burbank studio.
The studio's plan is to spin out other superheroes into their own movies following Justice League. That's contrary to Marvel's successful strategy of teaming up Iron Man, Thor, Hulk and Captain America in The Avengers (which became a global blockbuster) after each character had his own film.

There better be lesbian jokes about fire in it.

Yeah I'm really not that hopeful of this at all. Avengers did it right, giving each character their own film first, but these guys are just rushing to ride on the popularity of superhero movies right now. Not to mention, a summer 2015 release puts this up against avengers 2. Hopefully they space them as far apart as possible. But at least it's 2015. It's apparently got a new version of batman (thank fuck for that) so it'd just be confusing if they did it too soon.
also lol hope things go better than last time with this. They literally were about to start filming when it totally fell through, and that's just the worst thing ever. Absolutely colossal waste of everyone's time.
It's not really like Avengers where they all had their own story first (at least not in a movie).
Won't connect as well with people.

Which is the smart way to do it. Now we're gonna have all these back-stories crammed in here at once. This is gonna take a seriously great script and director to really make this work.
"Robinov previously tried unsuccessfully to convince The Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan to produce Justice League. "
No fucking shit I wouldn't want to be anywhere near this, even without it's cursed history.

The part that gets me mad is I'm pretty sure most people who follow DC or Marvel prefer Justice League over the Avengers, just cause Batman Superman Wonderman Flash etc
so it gets me irked that it's gonna be perceived as a rip off of the avengers
not nearly as excited for this as i was with avengers
mainly cause i don't like DC comics besides batman
but also because it's rebooting batman again and it's gonna be it's own shit entirely and not related to any DC movies
Too many superhero films I think
Unless syncopy does it I won't be interested
When are we going to start to see some NEW superheros? Enough of this shit using characters that are all like 40+ years old. There are enough adaptations for most of them, so I'd say we are well overdue for the next big blockbuster of a superhero to pop up.
At this point, a Justice League movie is a hit or miss, but continuing anything related to it after is only a business move. It wouldn't really be a great fan move.
There is so much Justice League media, along with media for Batman, Superman, etc. that I think only the most avid of collectors would really want more.
A lot of the superhero stuff in these recent years have pretty much been about attracting new, young fans.

I'll say it again. DC needs to do a Superman/Batman team up film before they do a Justice League films.

Like The Question. That guy has a couple solo comic runs under his belt that could easily be mined for decent scripts, a good amount of fan support because of Justice League Unlimited, and a foot already in the door because Watchmen proved that he (or rather, a character that was originally supposed to be him then altered to be him with the numbers filed off) could do just fine getting translated onto the big screen.
Hopefully they don't rush it for the sake of money. A decent Justice League movie could be absolutely amazing.
Fingers crossed it kind of turns out like this.
